Job Summary

Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and facilitate patient intake processes using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft.
- Schedule appointments efficiently, manage multi-line phone systems, and coordinate with patients regarding upcoming visits and treatment plans.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, utilizing systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks to ensure accurate billing and claims processing.
- Assist dental staff during procedures by preparing instruments, taking x-rays, and maintaining sterilization protocols in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness; handle medical coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10/ICD-9 codes for procedures and diagnoses to support medical billing processes.
- Manage medical records diligently by filing documents correctly, updating patient charts, and ensuring confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
- Perform administrative support tasks such as data entry with 10-key typing skills, billing follow-ups, insurance verification, appointment reminders, and maintaining a clean and organized front desk environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a dental or medical office setting with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical administrative procedures.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Meditech, Epic or Athenahealth; familiarity with Medisoft or similar software is a plus.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10-key).
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security.
- Ability to perform medical coding using ICD (International Classification of Diseases) codes like ICD-10/ICD-9 and CPT coding for billing purposes.
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations.
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with insurance verification processes and medical billing is essential.
- Organized with clerical experience in filing, documentation review, and office management to support daily operations effectively.
