Dental Assistant/Receptionist

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our vibrant dental team! Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and professional first impression
  • Manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring accurate billing and coding with CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes
  • Prepare and review patient medical records, documentation, and treatment plans for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist dental clinicians during procedures by passing instruments, taking x-rays, and maintaining sterilization protocols
  • Handle patient check-out processes by collecting payments, explaining care plans, and scheduling follow-up visits
  • Maintain organized filing systems for medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette while managing appointment requests and patient inquiries
  • Support billing processes through medical collection efforts and accurate documentation review
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Meditech or eClinicalWorks to update patient information efficiently

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a dental office setting or clinic environment with familiarity in dental terminology and medical billing practices
  • Strong knowledge of EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms; experience with Epic or Athenahealth is a plus
  • Proficiency in medical coding including CPT, ICD-9/10 coding standards; understanding of insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid is essential
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (including 10-key typing)
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in bilingual settings preferred
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with dental software such as open dental is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills for managing medical records, filing systems, and documentation review processes
