Duties
- Greet patients warmly, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-in and check-out processes with efficiency.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance claims processing, and handle billing using systems like Epic, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Meditech.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation review to ensure compliance with HIPAA and other health information management standards.
- Utilize multi-line phone systems to answer inquiries, schedule appointments, and provide excellent patient service while demonstrating proper phone etiquette.
- Manage front desk operations including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth.
- Assist with intake procedures, appointment reminders, and follow-up communications to optimize clinic flow.
- Support office management tasks including medical coding (ICD-10, CPT coding), billing processes, and documentation review to ensure accuracy in medical billing and care plans.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a medical office environment with strong clerical skills.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix or Eaglesoft; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and HIPAA regulations to ensure compliant documentation and patient confidentiality.
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor; ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently.
- Bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for filing, documentation review, and office management tasks.
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with dental terminology and dental office procedures is a plus.
- Ability to perform basic computer functions including typing (10 key), data entry, and using electronic health record (EHR) systems confidently.
