Distribution Manager

India

  • A distribution manager plans, organizes, and monitors the distribution and storage of goods to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery to customers. Key responsibilities include managing warehouse operations, overseeing transportation, monitoring inventory, managing staff, coordinating with suppliers and customers, developing budgets, and implementing strategies to meet distribution goals and ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • MDistribution Strategy:

Develop and implement strategies to achieve distribution goals, including setting performance targets and managing budgets.

  • Operations Oversight:

Monitor and coordinate daily operations, including the receiving, storing, and shipping of products.

  • Inventory Management:

Oversee inventory levels, conduct stock control, and ensure efficient inventory rotation and handling in the distribution center.

  • Transportation & Warehousing:

Coordinate with transportation staff and vendors, manage warehouse activities, and ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained.

  • Team Management:

Recruit, train, and supervise warehouse and distribution staff, provide feedback, and ensure adherence to company policies.

  • .Customer Service:

Address customer queries, resolve complaints, and ensure timely deliveries to meet customer needs.

  • Cost Control:

Manage distribution budgets, negotiate with carriers and vendors, and identify opportunities for cost reduction.

  • Compliance:

Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and health regulations.

  • Technology:

Utilize and manage IT systems to track inventory, manage delivery times, and monitor transport costs.

  • Essential Skills

Logistics & Supply Chain Knowledge:
Expertise in warehousing, stock control, transportation, and inventory management.

  • Leadership & Management:

Ability to supervise and motivate a team, assign workloads, and provide necessary training and feedback.

  • Communication:

Clear and effective communication for negotiating with vendors, collaborating with team members, and serving customers.

  • Technical Proficiency:

Skill in using computer systems and software for inventory tracking, data analysis, and communication.

  • Analytical Skills:

Ability to analyze data to identify trends, make informed decisions, and improve processes.

  • Problem-Solving:

Capacity to address issues such as delivery delays, inventory imbalances, and logistical challenges.
