What You’ll Do (the work you’ll own)
Client Care & Case Momentum
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients—set expectations, provide updates, and keep matters moving with empathy and precision.
- Manage case calendars, deadlines, and task lists; anticipate next steps and clear roadblocks before they appear.
Documents that persuade
- Draft, proof, and format pleadings, motions, disclosures, discovery requests/responses, affidavits, settlement agreements, and professional correspondence for attorney review.
- Build and maintain clean templates and checklists for repeatable quality.
Courts, rules, and filings
- E‑file and file in person as needed; ensure compliance with Arizona Law and Superior Court requirements.
- Track service, docket activity, and procedural deadlines with disciplined follow‑through.
Discovery & evidence
- Prepare Disclosures and discovery responses/supplements for attorney review.
- Organize document productions; index exhibits and maintain witness and exhibit lists for hearings, mediation, and trial.
- Review, summarize, and flag key issues from opposing party’s disclosures and discovery.
Hearing & trial support
- Schedule and coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, and client meetings.
- Assemble hearing binders and trial notebooks; support attorneys in court as needed.
Operations & billing
- Record billable time accurately; support monthly billing and matter budgeting.
- Contribute to building office systems and SOPs as the firm scales.
What You Bring (how you’ll succeed here)
- Experience: 2+ years as a family law (or civil litigation) paralegal in Arizona.
- Know‑how: Working knowledge of Arizona family law procedures, civil litigation, and local court rules.
- Tools: Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and a case management system (Clio or MyCase).
- Communication: Clear, professional writing; steady, respectful client communication—especially under pressure.
- Organization: Meticulous attention to detail; ability to prioritize and juggle multiple matters without dropping the ball.
- Judgment: You ask questions early, own your work, and deliver reliable results.
Nice to Have
- Bilingual (Spanish) skills.
- Experience mentoring legal assistants or fellow paralegals; interest in building training materials.
- Prior team‑lead or supervisory experience.
- Notary Public (or willingness to obtain).
The Nuts & Bolts
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; occasional overtime to meet client or court deadlines.
- Environment: On‑site for first 90-days; Hybrid thereafter; We are in Phoenix with a collaborative, startup feel.
- Compensation: $55,000 – $70,000 DOE.
