JOB SUMMARY:

The Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) builds, supports, maintains, and manages over 8 million square

feet of state-owned facilities that house over twenty thousand state employees for dozens of state

agencies, all working in the service of the citizens of Texas. Our goal is to provide state workers with

high-quality work environments that are functional, energy-efficient, and cost-effective to operate.

This is an entry level position in state government purchasing with most work involving placing orders

using pre-existing contracts. Position comes with a fixed monthly salary, paid health benefits, fixed work

schedule with weekends off, paid vacation and sick leave, and a retirement pension. Opportunity for

growth on purchasing career ladder. Purchaser level and salary offered will depend on relevant

experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

MAKE PURCHASES ON BEHALF OF THE AGENCY:

  • Process requisitions into Purchase Orders within 7 business days of final approval.
  • Assist end users with requisition entry questions.
  • Communicate with vendors to request certificates of insurance, quote revisions, and clarifications.
  • Assist accounts payable with vendor set ups with new vendors.
  • Complete credit applications for new vendors on behalf of the agency.
  • Credit card purchases on behalf of the agency when required.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Performs related work as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Familiar with the use of computer, word processing, and spreadsheet software
  • Ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure of the State of Texas.

REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE:

  • Certified Texas Contract Developer (CTCD). Certification required within six months from the
date of hire. Training and Testing paid for by the agency.

  • This position functions in a standard office environment. There are no unusual dangers involved.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
