Position Summary

Forno Osteria and Bar Montgomery is seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager to lead daily operations, drive financial performance, and cultivate an exceptional guest experience. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all front- and back-of-house operations, developing a high-performing team, and ensuring the restaurant consistently delivers outstanding Italian cuisine and hospitality.

This role requires a dynamic leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong business acumen, and is passionate about hospitality excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor managers and hourly team members

  • Foster a positive, accountable, and service-driven culture

  • Lead by example with professionalism, integrity, and energy

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development

  • Ensure proper staffing levels to meet business demands

Operations Management

  • Oversee all daily restaurant operations (FOH & BOH)

  • Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, and service

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations

  • Monitor and improve operational efficiency and workflow

  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally

Financial Performance

  • Manage P&L performance, budgeting, and forecasting

  • Control labor costs, food costs, and operating expenses

  • Analyze sales trends and implement strategies to drive revenue growth

  • Ensure accurate cash handling and inventory management

  • Develop and execute local marketing and community engagement initiatives

Guest Experience & Brand Standards

  • Ensure exceptional hospitality and memorable dining experiences

  • Maintain brand standards in ambiance, cleanliness, and service

  • Build strong relationships with guests and the local community

  • Monitor and respond to guest feedback and online reviews

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of restaurant management experience, with at least 2 years as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager

  • Proven track record of achieving financial and operational goals

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience managing high-volume, full-service restaurants

  • Knowledge of food safety standards and local regulations

  • Proficiency in POS systems, scheduling software, and financial reporting tools

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in upscale casual or Italian dining concepts

  • Background in bar operations and beverage program management

  • Strong community presence and local market knowledge
