Job Mission
As the Head of Communications for Roche Pharma Egypt, will serve as a strategic, values-driven leader who champions transparency, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing internally and externally.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping Roche’s external presence by leading integrated communication and stakeholder engagement strategies for Roche pharmaceutical division. Through proactive collaboration with key external stakeholders, you advocate for accelerated and equitable access to Roche’s innovations, while strengthening the company’s reputation as a leader in healthcare transformation and patient-centered innovation in Egypt.
Internally, your role is to cascade the global directions, affiliate priorities and external environment challenges as well as strategic collaboration with an intent to form a strong employer brand and positioned value proposition.
You are a strategic and visionary leader with a strong growth mindset and deep expertise in corporate and internal communications. You challenge assumptions, influence decisions, and align cross-functional teams through a clear, compelling value story. Your proactive leadership drives business outcomes, fosters collaboration, and ensures alignment with strategic priorities.
You are role modeling & advocating our culture. Having the ability to inspire & promote Roche’s people & culture elements as well as using your authenticity & strong connections to identify the cultural gaps and employee needs. By crafting integrated internal communication strategies that reflect cultural shifts, business goals, and the evolving external landscape, you play a critical role in shaping and elevating our corporate brand—both internally and externally.
You report directly to the Head of Transformation and Commercial Excellence and you lead the Communications function.
Your Impact
Stakeholder Engagement & External Positioning
Serve as a key point of contact for external stakeholders, including media, government bodies, healthcare institutions, and patient advocacy groups.
Build strategic relationships externally to advocate for faster, broader access to Roche’s innovations.
Partner with nontraditional stakeholders across the broader ecosystem, with an aim to define one common agenda that accelerates Egypt’s healthcare ecosystem capacity and capability expansion together while enabling Roche Egypt to deliver better impact.
Collaborate closely with Access, Policy, and Government Affairs teams to envision and plan an external communication narrative that supports patient access and healthcare ecosystem shaping goals realization.
Strategize and build an internal affiliate strategy that is inclusive of all perspectives & cross functional inputs.
Role-model enterprise leadership by balancing functional goals with global & regional strategies.
Thought Leadership & Innovation Advocacy
Position Roche as a thought leader in Egypt’s healthcare landscape through proactive storytelling, content development, public speaking opportunities, and presence in key industry platforms.
Translate scientific and business innovations into compelling narratives that resonate with patients, policymakers, HCPs, and the broader public.
Internal Alignment and Collaboration
Partner closely with affiliate leadership, including GMs and function heads, to ensure aligned communication priorities and executive messaging.
Work across Diagnostics and Pharmaceuticals to develop one Roche message integration, knowledge sharing, and consistency in stakeholder engagement, that enables position Roche as a strategic healthcare catalyst.
Coach and enable internal teams and leaders to become effective communicators and ambassadors for Roche’s purpose.
Corporate Brand and Reputation
Manage and develop untraditional approaches to evolve Roche’s brand equity & presence in Egypt, ensuring alignment with global identity and values.
Oversee local corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, events, and campaigns that reflect Roche’s commitment to patients, sustainability, and innovation, together with positioning Roche as the employer of choice for attracting talents from the Egyptian market.
Internal communication strategy
Own and develop the strategy setting and execution of the internal communication plan and annual communication calendar to drive transparency, alignment, and employee engagement across the organization.
Collaborate closely with leadership, HR, transformation, and other key functions to deliver clear, consistent, and timely messaging that supports people's priorities, fosters strategic employee engagement, and continuously connects local initiatives to global strategies — all while strengthening employees’ connection to Roche’s purpose.
Digital Strategy Planning and Execution
Lead, support and overlook websites, social media channels and other digital platforms. Triage requests for digital campaigns and projects with the right stakeholders internally and externally.
Enable planning and executing the digital marketing strategies and campaigns to optimise the online user experience, increase marketing effectiveness and improve customer satisfaction.
Proactively catalyze, pull and deploy the development of new digital strategic plans that contribute to achieving Roche objectives.
Design an insight driven, ‘outside-in’ digital strategy that articulates our vision and business priorities with the interests of our audiences.
Lead and/or collaborate on creating bold, impactful campaign creatives while defining and enforcing structured guidelines.
Interact and collaborate with cross functional teams to set up and own the timely execution of campaigns across multiple channels and platforms.
License To Operate
Ensure integrity, compliance, and maintain our License to Operate in all external engagements, partnerships, collaborations, interfaces, decisions, negotiations, and contracting in Egypt.
Ensure that the function proactively engages with internal compliance and legal resources to ensure full compliance before taking action and/or committing Roche to activities externally.
Who You Are
Educational Background: You are a senior leader holding bachelor’s degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Political Science, Marketing, or related field. A master's degree is a strong asset. Your fluency in English is required together with other languages.
Experience: You have 8+ years of experience in internal/external communications, public affairs, or external relations—preferably at a head-of-function level and within regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, pharma, medical devices, oil & gas, tobacco). You have the knowledge & deep understanding of Egypt’s healthcare landscape, policy environment, and media ecosystem.
Strategic Communication: You are a strategic leader who is able to inspire external thought partners through translating complex strategies into clear, inspiring story telling narratives across diverse audiences. You have an active role in shaping our corporate identity & employer brand through having an external one Roche narrative, positioning Roche as the preferred partner.
Inspiring & Influencing: You have the experience in leading cross-functional teams, advising senior leaders, and navigating complex matrix organizations. You have the ability to build trust, earn fellowship and mobilize teams around a shared vision and narrative. You act as the strategic advisory & thought partner to the executive enabling team
Change Catalyst: Your role in change is to proactively shape an inspiring future proof change story that sparks curiosity through shaping an internal messaging strategy, that triggers open dialogue & creates change advocates. Your emotional intelligence & authenticity enables a transparent, value-driven & people centric culture, cultivating the desired agile behaviors as empowerment, collaboration & psychological safety.
Communication Excellence: You are an expert in verbal and written communication skills together with having an exceptional strength in designing & maintaining robust communications frameworks & content planning in proficient English & Arabic languages.
