Job Description

The Head of Human Resources is a strategic business partner and key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for developing, leading, and executing the full spectrum of HR strategies and programs that support operational and organizational goals. This role oversees all human resources functions, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee relations, labor law compliance, performance management, leadership development, benefits administration, training, organizational development, and risk mitigation.


This individual will lead a team of HR professionals in delivering proactive, business-focused HR support to approximately 450 hourly manufacturing employees and 90 salaried employees. The Head of HR will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team and will play a critical role in shaping and sustaining a positive, high-performance culture aligned with the company’s values and growth strategy.

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership team in driving organizational effectiveness, culture, and workforce strategy.
  • Lead and develop the Human Resources team, including HR Specialists, Training & Development Leader, Benefits Specialist, and reception staff.
  • Design and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs that attract, retain, and develop top talent across all levels.
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention strategies for hourly and salaried positions in a competitive manufacturing labor market.
  • Manage employee relations, ensuring fair, consistent, and timely resolution of workplace issues while minimizing risk to the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations; monitor legislative and regulatory developments and adjust company policies as needed.
  • Advise and coach plant leaders and managers on effective performance management, leadership behaviors, and employee engagement practices.
  • Drive succession planning and leadership development initiatives to build organizational capability and prepare future leaders.
  • Oversee benefits administration, compensation strategy, and payroll coordination to ensure competitiveness and compliance.
  • Lead the response to government inquiries, audits, or investigations, and coordinate with legal counsel as needed.
  • Develop and monitor HR metrics to evaluate effectiveness of HR strategies and report progress to the executive team.
  • Manage HR budgets and resources effectively, aligning with overall business objectives.
  • Represent the company in external HR-related matters as needed.


Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive HR experience in a manufacturing environment; 10+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local labor and employment laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience building and leading high-performing HR teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in:

  • Benefits strategy and administration
  • Training, leadership development, and organizational development

  • Strong business acumen and ability to operate strategically while executing hands-on initiatives.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
