This temporary position is located in Raleigh - Wake County.


Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).


This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Adult Correction. This position is located at 2020 Yonkers Rd, Raleigh, NC 27604.

This position supports the Division of Community Supervision (DCS) by performing a variety of human resources and administrative tasks.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Screening and referring candidate applications for Hiring Managers review.
  • Enter and track applicant data in Applicant Tracking System
  • Creating and managing job postings for DCS positions
  • Supporting Probation/Parole Officer (PPO) hiring events, including hiring documentation before and after events
  • Creating and maintaining both electronic and physical personnel files
  • Assisting with salary administration by preparing interview and hiring packets
  • Providing general administrative and clerical support to the DCS HR team
The position may also have the opportunity to support the LOA/Benefits Specialist in the section, allowing for hands-on experience in the areas of:
  • Health insurance, other insurance programs unique to DAC, NC Flex programs,
  • Short Term and Long-Term Disability, Retirement programs,
  • The determination of eligibility for all types of leave offered by the state (FML, LWOP, VSL, Community Service, PPL, Military, etc.).
  • Workers' Compensation, ADA compliance.

The position interacts with administrative staff and managers in the DCS Administration central office, Judicial Division and Judicial District offices, and is the secondary point of contact for applicant inquiries.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining files and/or record keeping.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, or Word.
  • Demonstrated experience generating reports and/or interpreting data.
Management Preferences
  • Demonstrated experience using an Applicant Tracking System.
  • Demonstrated experience using Workday HRIS.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required; or

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
