Human Resources Coordinator

The Human Resources Coordinator provides frontline HR support within a poultry processing facility, serving as a primary point of contact for employees, applicants, and supervisors. This role supports recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, recordkeeping, and employee engagement activities in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.

The HR Coordinator ensures accurate HR documentation, promotes consistent application of company policies, and supports compliance with employment laws. This position plays a critical role in delivering a positive employee experience while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for walk-in applicants and employees, responding to general HR inquiries and directing complex matters to the appropriate HR team member.
  • Coordinate hourly recruitment and onboarding activities, including application review, phone or in-person screening, new hire paperwork completion, HRIS entry, and scheduling for orientation.
  • Facilitate or support new hire orientation and partner with production and safety teams to coordinate job previews and required safety training.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, I-9 documentation, E-Verify, WOTC processing, and related compliance records in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Assist employees with benefits questions and enrollment, pay inquiries, leave questions, and general HR support.
  • Conduct new hire check-ins and exit interviews; document trends and escalate concerns as appropriate.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition events, and HR-related training programs.
  • Maintain HR trackers, compile workforce data, and prepare routine reports for HR leadership and plant management.
  • Perform administrative HR tasks including badging, data entry, Pay Card setup, etc.
  • Support HR investigations by gathering documentation, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring proper follow-up.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and help streamline HR procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support plant HR operations.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • None. This position has no direct reports.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of HR, recruiting, or administrative experience required.
  • Experience in manufacturing, food production, or high-volume environments preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Working knowledge of HR Body of Knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel) required; experience with ADP or other HRIS systems preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated reliability, initiative, and sense of urgency.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequent walking between office and production areas.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including computer, phone, copier, and scanner.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to enter production environments and comply with required PPE standards.

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based within a poultry processing facility.
  • Frequent interaction with production employees in refrigerated, wet, humid, or odorous environments.
  • Exposure to noise levels requiring hearing protection in designated areas.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when entering production areas.
  • May require flexibility in schedule, including early mornings, weekends, or holidays, depending on business needs.

  • Support a culture of food safety by reinforcing GMP compliance during onboarding and employee interactions.
  • Immediately report any food safety or quality concerns to appropriate leadership.
  • Adhere to biosecurity, sanitation, and plant safety protocols at all times.
