A leading international financial institution is seeking a Human Resources Officer to join its New York City office. This is a critical replacement position providing generalist HR support within a highly regulated, multicultural, and evolving business environment.
Primary Responsibilities:

Advise managers and staff on employee relations matters, including performance management and conflict resolution

Develop, administer, and oversee benefit programs, compensation structures, and employee performance evaluation processes

Serve as an internal fiduciary for retirement and health benefits plans, ensuring compliance and best practices

Support investigations of employee complaints or concerns and assist in resolving issues amicably, collaborating with senior leadership and legal counsel where appropriate

Ensure organizational compliance with relevant laws and regulations, regularly updating HR policies and the employee handbook in partnership with legal counsel

Lead recruitment activities: coordinate with external recruiting firms, liaise with hiring managers, arrange interviews, and handle onboarding and new hire orientation

Monitor organizational practices for adherence to anti-discrimination laws and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) guidelines; take prompt action on violations in line with legal guidance and internal policy

Enforce HR policy compliance, carrying out investigations and disciplinary actions as required, in consultation with leadership and legal teams

Organize and deliver HR-related training programs, including statutory compliance sessions

May supervise or oversee the work of an HR Assistant
Key Qualifications:

5–15 years of experience as an HR Generalist, ideally in heavily regulated industries (e.g., financial services, insurance, banking, etc.)

Bachelor’s degree required

Solid working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; ERISA experience required

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Previous cross-cultural work experience highly valued
Compensation
: $110,000 – $130,000, based on experience
Work Schedule
: Standard hours are 9am-5pm; some flexibility may be available. Hybrid work environment: 2 days onsite, 3 days remote per week.
