Position Overview
The Import Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all import activities for Fincera, including kitchen/wardrobe materials, home automation items, solar components, and retail inventory. The role ensures smooth international procurement, timely clearances, accurate documentation, and cost-effective logistics management in compliance with customs regulations.
Key Responsibilities1. International Procurement & Supplier Coordination
- Identify and develop relationships with international vendors and manufacturers, especially for Fincera’s product lines (Interiors, Nuomi kitchens & wardrobes, Home Automation, Solar, and Retail).
- Obtain quotes, negotiate prices, payment terms (TT, LC), and delivery lead times.
- Ensure suppliers comply with product specifications, quality standards, and packaging requirements.
- Coordinate production timelines, material readiness, and shipment schedules with overseas suppliers.
2. Import Documentation Management
- Prepare, verify, and manage all documentation including:
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- Bill of Lading/Airway Bill
- Certificate of Origin
- Form-E
- Insurance Documents
- HS Codes & Product Descriptions
- Ensure accuracy of documents to prevent delays, penalties, or demurrage.
- Maintain complete filing (hard & soft copies) of all import-related documents.
3. Customs Clearance & Compliance
- Coordinate with clearing agents for timely clearance of shipments at seaports and airports.
- Verify customs duties, taxes, and tariffs based on updated SROs, import policies, and HS codes.
- Ensure complete compliance with Pakistani customs laws and import regulations.
- Resolve customs queries, documentation discrepancies, and inspection issues.
4. Logistics & Shipment Management
- Plan and track international shipments from supplier to warehouse/site.
- Select appropriate shipping methods (sea, air, FCL, LCL) based on urgency and budget.
- Monitor transit times, freight costs, insurance, and carrier performance.
- Proactively manage shipment delays, damage claims, and logistic risks.
- Coordinate transportation from port to warehouse or project locations.
5. Costing & Budget Control
- Prepare landed cost calculations (FOB, freight, duties, taxes, clearing, transportation).
- Maintain cost sheets for each shipment for internal and audit purposes.
- Negotiate competitive freight rates with forwarders and carriers.
- Ensure imports remain within approved budgets and financial guidelines.
6. Inventory & Internal Coordination
- Coordinate closely with warehouse, procurement, finance, and project departments for forecasting and inventory planning.
- Ensure imported materials are delivered to departments according to project timelines.
- Update internal teams on shipment arrival dates, clearance status, and expected delivery.
7. Systems, Reporting & Records
- Maintain an import tracker for all shipments (stage-wise).
- Update ERP/CRM systems with PO status, shipment details, payments, and lead times.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports for management review.
- Conduct audits and maintain full transparency of import operations.
Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, International Trade, or related field.
Experience
- 3–6 years of experience in import operations, preferably in:
- Interiors & furniture
- Wardrobes/kitchens
- Solar & electrical components
- Home automation products
- Retail inventory
- Experience working with international suppliers (China, Turkey, UAE, Europe) is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of HS codes, customs rules, and Pakistan import policies.
- Expertise in documentation (BL, invoices, COO, Form-E, LC procedures).
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP, and shipment tracking tools.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
