Position Title: Manager – Merchandising & Sourcing
Industry: Textiles (Bags, Backpacks, Travel Bags, Sports Bags, Pouches & Technical Accessories)
Experience Required: 5–8 Years (Merchandising / Sourcing in Textile or Bag Manufacturing)
Qualification: BBA / MBA / Textile / Supply Chain (or related)
Report To: GM / Head of Merchandising & Sourcing

✅ ROLE PURPOSE

To manage assigned buyers and suppliers by handling the complete lifecycle from product development, costing, sourcing, material approvals, TNA execution, production follow-ups and shipment coordination, ensuring OTIF deliveries and customer satisfaction.

✅ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (END-TO-END PROCESS)

1. Product Development & Sampling

  • Coordinate with buyers for tech packs, sample requests, approvals, and product specifications.
  • Create and manage BOM, trims sheet, fabric selection, and consumption.
  • Monitor proto, salesman sample (SMS), pre-production sample (PPS), and TOP samples.
  • Ensure sample accuracy, functionality, stitching details, and finishing as per customer standards.

2. Costing & Price Negotiation

  • Prepare accurate cost sheets and consumption sheets for buyer price negotiation.
  • Analyze fabric cost, trims cost, labor cost, overheads and logistics to achieve target costing.
  • Identify alternate materials or suppliers to improve margins.

3. Sourcing & Supplier Coordination

  • Source fabric, trims, accessories, zippers, sliders, webbing, buckles, threads, lining, packaging (local & international).
  • Develop and maintain a reliable supplier database with best pricing, lead time and quality.
  • Issue purchase orders (POs), follow up material deliveries and maintain supplier timelines.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations based on lead times, price, quality & service.

4. TNA / Order Execution / Follow-Ups

  • Prepare and track TNA (Time & Action Plan) for each order.
  • Follow up on material in-house status, production progress, QA approvals, and packing plans.
  • Maintain daily WIP reports, production status, and buyer communication logs.
  • Ensure internal coordination between PD, PPC, QA, Production, and Supply Chain teams to avoid delays.

5. Quality & Compliance Coordination

  • Ensure all materials, samples and production meet buyer quality standards.
  • Coordinate inline and final inspections with QA teams and third-party auditors (if required).
  • Support compliance requirements related to fabric standards, trims approvals, testing, AQL inspections.

6. Shipment & Documentation Support

  • Coordinate with logistics and export documentation teams for booking, packing lists, invoices, and shipments.
  • Ensure shipments meet OTIF and customer SOPs for packaging and labeling.

✅ KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong material knowledge: Polyester, Nylon, Oxford, Canvas, Jacquard + Trims & Accessories
  • Good understanding of bag construction, stitching methods, fabric GSM, lamination, and accessories usage
  • Excellent communication with buyers and suppliers
  • Strong command on TNA, costing, follow-ups and WIP control
  • Commercial & negotiation skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel, ERP/MRP, and reporting
