General Manager - Textiles

Position Title: General Manager – Textiles
Industry: Technical Textiles / Bags / Backpacks / Travel Gear / Sports Accessories
Experience Required: 12–20 Years (with minimum 5 years in a Senior Leadership role)
Qualification: MBA / BBA / BE Textile / Supply Chain Management or relevant field
Reports To: CEO / Director
Team Scope: Merchandising, Sourcing, PPC, QA/QC, Sampling, Product Development, and Supply Chain

✅ PRIMARY ROLE PURPOSE

To lead and manage the complete order lifecycle ranging from product development, costing, sourcing, capacity planning, production execution, quality control, compliance, and final shipment, ensuring profitability, operational efficiency, OTIF delivery, and customer satisfaction.

✅ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (FULL PROCESS COVERAGE)

1. Product Development (R&D / Sampling / Innovation)

• Lead new product development (NPD) for bags, accessories, technical textiles, and custom buyer products.
• Approve tech packs, BOMs, artworks, patterns, CADs, stitching styles and construction methods.
• Ensure sample accuracy, fit, performance testing, and pre-production approval.
• Introduce new fabrics, coatings, trims, hardware, and performance materials (PU, PVC, Polyester, Nylon, Ripstop, TPU, EVA, Lamination etc.).

2. Costing, Budgeting & Pricing

• Review and approve cost sheets, consumption sheets, overhead absorption, and target costing.
• Negotiate best commercial terms ensuring healthy gross margins and cost-saving initiatives.
• Achieve yearly cost-reduction targets through alternate sourcing and supplier consolidation.

3. Merchandising & Order Management (End-to-End)

• Oversee complete buyer communication, TNA, WIP, and execution from order inquiry to shipment.
• Monitor BOM finalization, POs, trims/fabric flow, approvals, and production milestones.
• Ensure OTIF (On-Time In-Full) order delivery and zero deviation against buyer SOPs.

4. Sourcing & Procurement

• Develop strong local and international supplier base (China, Vietnam, India, Pakistan).
• Source fabric, trims, accessories, webbing, zipper, sliders, buckles, thread, foam, lining, packaging, metal hardware etc.
• Implement supplier evaluation, lead-time control, cost benchmarking, and long-term agreements.

5. Planning & Production Control (PPC)

• Approve capacity plans, line loading, material planning, and production schedules.
• Ensure strict adherence to TNA through daily review, production audits, and escalation control.
• Drive Lean manufacturing / KAIZEN for efficiency and waste reduction.

6. Manufacturing – Stitching / Cutting / Lamination / Finishing

• Monitor shop floor KPIs: efficiency, DHU, throughput, absenteeism, idle time, rework, wastage.
• Ensure process excellence in:
• Fabric Inspection & Relaxation
• Cutting (Manual / CNC / Die Punching)
• Lamination / Heat Transfer / PU/TPU Coating
• Stitching & Assembly of Panels and Components
• Finishing, Cleaning, Packing & Metal Detection (if applicable)

7. Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Enforce strict QA systems at inline, end-line and final inspections (AQL standards).
• Responsible for social compliance, buyer audits, environmental standards (SEDEX, BSCI, GRS, ISO, WRAP, OEKO-TEX).
• Lead CAPA for quality failures and buyer claims.

8. Logistics, Export & Documentation

• Oversee export documentation, LC requirements, customs, freight booking & shipments.
• Ensure best freight negotiation and smooth coordination with 3PL, forwarders, CHAs.

9. People Leadership

• Build and develop strong teams in Merchandising, Sourcing, PPC, QA, and PD.
• Conduct performance reviews, skill audits, training, and succession planning.
• Promote a culture of discipline, accountability, professionalism and continuous improvement.

• Expertise in TNA, Costing, Lean, Capacity Planning, and Buying House Protocols
• Excellent negotiation, commercial acumen, decision-making, and communication skills
• Hands-on experience with ERP, WMS, MRPs, QA protocols, Buyer compliance and documentati
