Junior IT Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior IT Specialist to join our team. In this entry-level role, you will provide essential technical support, assist with computer management, and contribute to maintaining our IT infrastructure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced environment, supporting both hardware and software systems across various operating platforms.

Duties

  • Deliver prompt and effective technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network issues
  • Assist with computer management tasks, including setup, configuration, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, and peripherals
  • Support the administration of computer networks, including LAN (Local Area Network), VPN (Virtual Private Network), firewalls, and other security measures
  • Troubleshoot software problems across operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux, ensuring minimal downtime
  • Manage computer hardware inventory and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed
  • Utilize IT service management tools like ServiceNow, Jira, BMC Remedy to log incidents and track resolutions
  • Collaborate with team members to improve IT support processes and enhance overall system performance

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of IT support principles and customer service best practices
  • Familiarity with operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux
  • Knowledge of computer networking concepts such as LAN, VPNs, firewalls, and network troubleshooting
  • Experience with software troubleshooting across various applications and platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting purposes
  • Ability to manage computer hardware components effectively and perform routine maintenance
  • Strong communication skills to clearly explain technical issues to non-technical users
  • Willingness to learn new technologies like Help Desk tools (ServiceNow, Jira) and BMC Remedy for incident management
  • Active security clearance (Secret)
  • Be able to lift 25 LBS
  • Must meet DoD IAT Level 2 requirements.
  • Must possess a Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), or a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification.
  • (PREFERRED) USMC Network Experience
