Junior Quantity Surveyor (JQS) – Construction

Job Summary

The Junior Quantity Surveyor will assist the QS/Project team in preparing quantities, cost estimates, BOQs, site measurements, and documentation. This role supports cost control, progress verification, and commercial activities for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities1. Quantity Take-Off & BOQ Preparation

  • Assist in preparing quantity take-offs from drawings (civil, architectural, structural).
  • Support in preparing and updating Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
  • Check and verify quantities for variation orders.

2. Cost Estimation

  • Collect material rates and assist in preparing cost estimates.
  • Support the tendering team in preparing technical and commercial bids.
  • Assist in cost comparisons and rate analysis.

3. Site Measurement & Verification

  • Attend site visits to take measurements and verify completed works.
  • Prepare joint measurement sheets with subcontractors.
  • Support monthly payment applications and progress valuations.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain logs for drawings, material approvals, variations, and payment certificates.
  • Assist in preparing monthly reports for the QS/Project Manager.
  • Organize project files and QS-related documentation.

5. Subcontractor Coordination

  • Assist in reviewing subcontractor quotations and agreements.
  • Verify subcontractor invoices and prepare payment recommendations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for quotations and material data.

6. Support in Contract & Commercial Work

  • Assist in preparing correspondences related to commercial issues.
  • Support the team in claim preparation, variation submissions, and tender clarifications.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and contract conditions.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel, AutoCAD (basic), and quantity take-off tools.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and understand specifications.
  • Good numerical, analytical, and documentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Good communication skills (English).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: BD250.000 - BD300.000 per month
