Land Surveyor

To plan, organize and direct work of one or more survey parties engaged in surveying earth's surface to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction.

1) Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed.

2) Prepares and maintains sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.

3) Verifies the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.

4) Records the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.

5) Calculates heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.

6) Coordinates findings with the work by engineering and architectural personnel,

clients and other personnel concerned with projects.

7) Adjusts surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy and reports any defects.

8) Determines longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas, using theodolites, transits, levels.
