Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimise transportation, distribution, and warehousing processes.
- Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components to manufacturing plants.
- Manage inventory levels and ensure adequate stock levels of raw materials and finished goods to meet production and customer demand.
- Oversee the scheduling and routing of shipments to minimize transportation costs and optimize delivery times.
- Monitor and track logistics performance metrics, such as on-time delivery, transportation costs, and inventory accuracy.
- Implement and enforce safety and compliance standards for logistics operations, including adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Lead and develop a team of logistics professionals, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback as needed.
- Continuously assess and improve logistics processes and systems to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, and sales, to ensure alignment of logistics activities with business objectives.
Professional Competencies:
- Proven experience in logistics management, preferably in a Chemical, Cement, Agrochem manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of transportation and warehousing best practices, including knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement solutions.
- Effective leadership and team management abilities, with experience in motivating and developing a diverse team of logistics professionals.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using logistics management software and systems to track shipments, manage inventory, and analyse data.
- Negotiation skills pertaining to ARCs or open market negotiations
- Experience with Rake movement
- Experience in EXIM logistics
