Geon® Performance Solutions, a leading innovator in the development of polymer compounding solutions, is recruiting for a Marketing Communications Specialist role. This is an exciting time for Geon’s industrial business and our newly acquired Foster medical business, as we grow both organically and inorganically.
The Marketing Communications Specialist will develop and execute strategic communications initiatives across the Geon and Foster businesses. This role is ideal for a dynamic communicator with a strong background in B2B marketing, content development, and brand storytelling. The successful candidate will collaborate cross-functionally to craft compelling messaging, support product launches, and elevate brand visibility across multiple channels.
Primary Responsibilities:
Communications Planning and Content Development:
- Develop and implement integrated marketing communications plans that align with business goals and brand positioning
- Ensure consistent brand voice and visual identity across all touchpoints. Support brand evolution and messaging refinement as needed
- Collaborate with Business Development, Innovation, and Sales to translate insights into effective marketing and product launch materials, highlighting the company’s value proposition through various media
Demand Generation:
- Create high-impact content including brochures, presentations, case studies, newsletters, email campaigns, and web copy tailored to technical and commercial audiences.
- Manage participation in 6-10 trade shows per year, coordinating development and production of booth design and logistics, generating pre-show publicity, editing technical presentations, and preparing/submitting industry award applications.
- Support additional campaigns such as social media, email, webinars, PR, and thought leadership initiatives. Work closely with Digital Marketing Specialist and coordinate with external agencies and vendors as needed.
Internal Communications:
- Partner with Human Resources in developing internal messaging and employee newsletter to foster alignment and build culture.
- Develop and maintain industry event calendar, reviewing periodically with commercial and technical leaders to adjust as needed to meet business goals.
- Support new commercial employees’ onboarding process by highlighting available Marketing resources.
Key Goals & Deliverables:
- Campaign and content engagement (ex: click-through/open rates, social media shares/comments, trade show leads)
- High quality, error-free, and on-brand marketing content and product launch materials, delivered on time
- Offline marketing budget management (ex: trade shows, print, events) to maximize ROI, including expenditure tracking and reporting
- With HR, increase employee engagement through newsletters, event calendars, and onboarding support
Skills & Competencies:
- Client-service mentality, with ability to bring new and creative ideas to the organization
- Clear and concise communicator, with excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to create compelling content using creative tools (InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing)
- Great eye for detail and insistence on error-free work product
- Organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple projects and stakeholders
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, constantly evolving business environment
Experience and Education:
- 5+ years of relevant B2B communications experience in a manufacturing-related industry, such as chemicals, plastics, medical devices, or industrial equipment
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field is preferred, although equivalent work experience will be considered
- Experience supporting multiple brands or business units is strongly preferred
Work Environment & Physical Environment:
- Typical office setting, regularly performing repeated motions (ex: computer work) and remaining in a stationary position (ex: standing or sitting) for prolonged periods
- Periodically required to lift items up to 25 lbs (ex: trade show exhibit components)
- Occasionally required to move through laboratory and manufacturing plants, necessitating adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Work Location and Travel Requirements:
- Hybrid role, based in either Geon’s Westlake, OH office 3-4 days/week
- Domestic US travel to several trade shows each year, approximately 10%
