The MEP Document Controller is responsible for managing, controlling, and maintaining all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) project documentation. The role ensures proper document flow between consultants, contractors, and project teams while maintaining accurate records in compliance with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Document Management
- Maintain and control all MEP project documents including drawings, technical submittals, RFIs, method statements, and material approvals.
- Ensure proper document numbering, filing, and archiving according to project standards.
- Maintain both electronic and hard copy filing systems.
2. Document Control System
- Upload, track, and update documents in the document management system (Aconex, EDMS, etc.).
- Monitor document revisions and ensure the latest approved versions are available to project teams.
- Maintain document registers and logs.
3. Coordination
- Coordinate with MEP engineers, project managers, consultants, and subcontractors regarding document submissions and approvals.
- Follow up with consultants/clients for pending approvals.
4. Submittals & RFIs
- Prepare and submit technical submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and material approvals to consultants.
- Track the status of submissions and maintain records of approvals, comments, and re-submissions.
5. Reporting
- Generate periodic reports on document status, approvals, and pending submissions.
- Maintain logs for incoming and outgoing correspondence.
6. Compliance & Quality
- Ensure documentation complies with project specifications, company procedures, and quality standards.
- Support QA/QC teams in maintaining proper documentation records.
7. Distribution
- Ensure approved drawings and documents are properly distributed to relevant departments and site teams.
- Maintain document transmittals and distribution records.
