Role Summary

The MEP Project Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day execution of MEP projects from inception to completion. This role acts as the central point of communication between site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and management — ensuring that all project activities are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual and technical requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Project Planning & Scheduling

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestone trackers, and progress reports for all active MEP projects.
• Coordinate with engineers and site supervisors to plan resource allocation, manpower, and equipment deployment.
• Monitor project timelines and proactively flag delays or deviations to senior management.

Site Coordination & Supervision

• Conduct regular site visits to monitor installation progress, quality of work, and adherence to approved drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate the activities of site teams, subcontractors, and MEP tradesmen across multiple concurrent projects.
• Ensure all site activities comply with UAE health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and company standards.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare and manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, method statements, inspection requests, and daily progress reports.
• Maintain an up-to-date project file for each contract, including correspondence, drawings, approvals, and variation orders.
• Compile and submit weekly and monthly progress reports to management and clients as required.

Procurement & Material Coordination

• Coordinate with the procurement and stores team to ensure timely ordering, delivery, and tracking of materials and equipment to site.
• Review material submittals and technical data sheets for compliance with project specifications prior to procurement.
• Follow up with suppliers on lead times and flag critical material shortages that may impact project delivery.

Client & Stakeholder Communication

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during project execution, managing expectations and addressing concerns professionally.
• Attend project meetings, technical review sessions, and coordination meetings with consultants, main contractors, and clients.
• Track and manage variation orders, ensuring proper documentation, approval, and cost capture.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure all MEP installations meet applicable UAE standards, local authority regulations, and project contractual requirements.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, and handover activities including preparation of O&M manuals and as-built drawings.
• Manage and close out punch lists and snagging items raised during inspections or client walkthroughs.

Cost & Contract Management Support

• Track project costs against budget and alert management to overspend risks or scope changes.
• Support the preparation of progress invoices, retention release requests, and project closeout documentation.
• Assist in reviewing subcontractor claims and back-to-back cost recoveries.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related MEP discipline.

Experience

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in MEP project coordination or site engineering within the UAE construction industry.
• Demonstrated exposure to HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, and/or firefighting works is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience working with main contractors or MEP subcontractors on mid-to-large scale commercial or infrastructure projects.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD for drawing review and markup.
• Working knowledge of MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent scheduling tools.
• Familiarity with UAE DEWA, FEWA, SEWA, and DM authority submission and approval processes is an advantage.
• Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for reporting and correspondence.

Soft Skills

• Strong organizational and multitasking ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Clear and professional communication skills — both written and verbal.
• Proactive problem-solving approach with attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines.

Preferred Certifications & Licenses

• UAE Driving License (Required)
• NEBOSH / IOSH Safety Certification (Preferred)
• PMP or PRINCE2 Project Management Certification (Preferred)
• Any MEP-specific training or vendor certification (e.g., Carrier, Trane, SKM) is an advantage

Employment Details

Job Type: Full-Time / Contract

Contract Length: 24 months (renewable based on performance)

Probation Period: 6 months

Working Hours: 10 hours/day, 6 days/week (standard UAE construction schedule)

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to reliably commute to or relocate to Sharjah before commencement of employment.
• Candidates currently based in the UAE with transferable visa status are preferred.
• References from previous employers in MEP/construction may be requested.
