We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled MEP Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all financial aspects related to Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works within construction projects — from initial cost estimation through to final account. The role ensures effective cost control, maximized value, and compliance with contractual and budgetary requirements across all project phases.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pre-Contract Activities
- Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for all MEP systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical).
- Assist in tender analysis, bid evaluation, and preparation of technical and commercial submissions.
- Coordinate with design, engineering, and procurement teams to identify cost-saving and value engineering opportunities.
2. Post-Contract Activities
- Prepare, review, and manage interim payment applications, variations, and claims in accordance with contract requirements.
- Evaluate subcontractor quotations, certify payments, and verify variations.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all contract-related correspondence, including change orders and site instructions.
- Monitor budgets, perform cost control, and forecast project expenditures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare monthly cost reports and financial summaries for management and client review.
- Conduct value engineering and cost optimization exercises as needed.
3. Measurement and Valuation
- Perform quantity take-offs from MEP drawings and specifications.
- Ensure accurate measurement and valuation of MEP works executed on-site.
- Verify site progress and support monthly valuations and certifications.
4. Contract and Commercial Management
- Interpret and administer contractual terms and conditions in line with company and client requirements.
- Prepare and support claims, variations, and extension of time (EoT) submissions.
- Ensure compliance with contractual and financial procedures.
5. Project Coordination
- Collaborate closely with MEP Project Manager, Engineers, and Site Teams to align financial objectives with technical execution.
- Attend project progress meetings and provide commercial input and updates.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Quantity Surveying (Mechanical focus preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor within MEP contracting or construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Drainage, Fire Protection).
- Proficiency in quantity surveying and estimating software.
- Solid understanding of standard forms of contract (FIDIC or equivalent).
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and reporting skills.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deliver under pressure.
