Office Administrator

Job Description:

Temple Beth Hillel in South Windsor, CT is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Office Administrator. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the synagogue and ensuring the smooth running of its administrative functions.

Responsibilities:

● Manage the front desk, greeting visitors and answering phone calls with a friendly and professional demeanor.

● Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and membership database management.

● Assist with event planning and coordination, including scheduling and preparing for worship services and special events.

● Create and organize RSVP lists and sign-ups for TBH events

● Draft and send communications and newsletters to members via Constant Contact.

● Manage the synagogue's financial records and assist with bookkeeping tasks including paying invoices and billing.

● Respond to inquiries from members and the public, directing them to the appropriate staff member or resource.

● Ensure that the synagogue's facilities are well-maintained and kept in a clean and orderly condition, including coordinating with the cleaning service and several other vendors and contractors.

Requirements:

● High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor's degree preferred

● 2-3 years of administrative experience, previous experience in a synagogue or house of worship is a plus

● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

● Basic bookkeeping skills, experience with Quickbooks preferred

● Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Apps

● Familiarity with computer tools such as SignUpGenius and Canva is a plus.

● Experience with managing a social media account a plus

● Ability to work independently as well as with direction

● Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sensitivity

This is a part-time, in-person position with competitive hourly compensation and the potential for a flexible schedule.

Pay: $24.66 - $26.00 per hour
