O&M Manager

Job Title: O&M Manager – Solar PV (Residential & Commercial)

Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in solar operations and maintenance, with at least 3 years in a mid-senior level role.

Location: Uganda

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Solar Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in remote monitoring and performance engineering, with the ability to manage and oversee the operations and maintenance of solar plants, particularly those of at least 100MW capacity. This role requires a dynamic individual with excellent technical knowledge, planning, coordination, and management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

·Utilize advanced remote monitoring tools to oversee solar plant operations and ensure optimal performance.

·Identify and troubleshoot issues remotely, coordinating with on-site teams as necessary.

· Analyze performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

·Develop and implement strategies to enhance the performance and reliability of solar plants.

·Create detailed O&M plans, including preventive maintenance schedules, corrective maintenance, and emergency response plans.

·Ensure that all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations.

·Develop comprehensive O&M manuals, documenting procedures, protocols, and best practices for solar plant maintenance.

·Manage the operations and maintenance of solar plants, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

·Coordinate with various stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and on-site teams to achieve project goals.

·Schedule and oversee all maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations.

· Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repair tasks.

·Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, providing regular updates on plant performance and maintenance activities.

·Lead and mentor O&M teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Technical Knowledge Required:

· Proficient in remote monitoring and performance analysis tools.

· Strong understanding of solar PV systems, including inverters, transformers, and SCADA systems.

·Proven experience in managing the O&M of solar plants with a capacity of at least 100MW.

Tools & Software:

· MS Excel (Basic reporting & quotation)

· CRM Software (Lead tracking & follow-up)

· Mobile apps for reporting / tracking

Required Skills:

· Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to create detailed maintenance plans and schedules.

·Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.

· Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams.

Qualification:

·Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.

· Master's degree is preferred.

Additional Requirements:

· Willingness to travel locally for customer meetings

· Experience in solar / real estate / electrical sales will be an advantage

·Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations related to solar plant operations and maintenance.

·Ability to work independently and remotely, with occasional travel to site locations as required.

· Certification in solar energy or related fields is a plus.
