Duties

• Review and accurately post payments received from insurance companies, patients, and other payers into electronic medical record (EMR) and billing systems
• Reconcile payment discrepancies by investigating denials, adjustments, or underpayments, and communicate with billing or collections teams as needed
• Ensure all payments are coded correctly using appropriate medical coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications
• Process and update medical records with accurate payment information, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and standards
• Collaborate with billing and collections departments to resolve outstanding balances or claim issues promptly
• Maintain detailed logs of transactions, adjustments, and correspondence related to payment posting activities
• Stay current with changes in medical coding guidelines and payer policies to ensure accurate processing

Skills

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare billing procedures
• Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR (Electronic Health Records) platforms
• Experience with medical coding including CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10), DRG classification, and understanding of medical billing processes
• Familiarity with medical collection procedures and insurance claim adjudication
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure error-free payment posting
• Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and translate it into accurate financial entries
• Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and resolving payment issues efficiently

Pay: $23.50 - $28.30 per hour
