Job Title: Payroll Associate (Onsite)
Position Summary
The Payroll Associate will be responsible for accurately processing payroll for 500+ employees across multiple Canadian clients while working onsite in Pakistan. This role requires strong analytical abilities, advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with Canadian teams and clients. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and experienced in managing high-volume, multi-jurisdiction payroll.
Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll for 500+ employees for multiple Canadian clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Canadian payroll regulations.
- Review and validate employee timesheets, timecards, and attendance data; follow up with client contacts to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, bonuses, and deductions.
- Calculate wages, overtime, vacation pay, statutory holiday pay, and other earnings in accordance with Canadian provincial laws.
- Process and reconcile payroll deductions such as benefits, garnishments, statutory deductions (CPP, EI), and income tax withholdings.
- Prepare payroll reports and conduct data analysis using Google Sheets and Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, and data validation.
- Work closely with Canadian clients via email, calls, and virtual meetings to ensure smooth payroll operations and resolve any payroll-related inquiries.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including T4/T4A reviews and reconciliations.
- Maintain compliance with Canadian federal and provincial employment standards and tax regulations.
- Uphold strict confidentiality of employee and client payroll data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, HR, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably with high-volume or international payroll (experience with Canadian payroll is a strong advantage).
- Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with Canadian clients and internal teams.
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Payworks, Ceridian Dayforce, QuickBooks Payroll, or similar) is an asset.
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and employment standards—Canadian experience preferred but not mandatory if willing to learn.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
