Placement Manager – General Insurance

Role Summary: The Placement Manager is responsible for leading the placement and procurement function for the General Insurance division (Corpline), managing both onshore and offshore placement executives, and maintaining strong partnerships with insurers and reinsurers. This role ensures efficient placement workflows, faster turnaround times, and alignment between business requirements, underwriting appetite, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Placement & Operations Management
    • Oversee and manage the onshore and offshore placement executives, ensuring smooth coordination across all product lines.
    • Train and mentor the placement team on insurer portal quoting, IM designed PUP products, Individual Underwriting risk analysis and market appetite and process, internal and external placement SOPs, and workflow compliance.
    • Monitor end-to-end placement activities including RFQs, quoting, issuance, and bookings.
    • Define and Improve procurement and placement turnaround times (TATs) to achieve operational excellence.
    • Oversee policy bookings, procurement and placement accuracy, and outstanding reconciliations internally.
  • Insurer & Reinsurer Relationship Management
    • Responsible for managing and strengthening insurer relationships, ensuring alignment with business objectives and risk appetite.
    • Responsible for developing and maintaining reinsurer relationships (RI) to broaden market access and improve placement flexibility.
    • Lead insurer and reinsurer engagement to enhance turnaround time, technical capability, and risk appetite alignment.
    • Handle all placement escalations with insurers and ensure timely resolution.
    • Drive improved insurer responsiveness through consistent relationship management and feedback mechanisms.
  • Strategic Leadership & Business Alignment
    • Collaborate with the business advisory and procurement teams to identify process gaps, resolve conflicts, and improve workflow efficiency.
    • Assist in designing and structuring pre-underwritten products to align with business needs and enhance conversion ratios.
    • Act as a placement leader in meetings with VIP or high-value clients alongside the business team.
    • Strengthen placement governance, enforce internal controls, and ensure adherence to company and regulatory compliance standards.
    • Support scalable growth by establishing defined leadership accountability within the placement team.
  • Training & Development
    • Continuously train the placement team to stay aligned with insurer portals, new product updates, underwriting guidelines, and market updates.
    • Foster a performance-driven environment that prioritizes quality, accuracy, and efficiency.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong technical understanding of commercial and general insurance products.
  • Proven experience in insurer and reinsurer negotiation and relationship management.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret underwriting guidelines and translate them into actionable placement processes.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • High level of professionalism and client-facing confidence.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a reputed university (mandatory).
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in general insurance placement and broking operations within the UAE.
  • Proven experience managing insurer relationships and placement teams within the UAE insurance market.
