Planning Engineer (Shutdowns)

The Planning Engineer (Mechanical) will be responsible for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling shutdown, turnaround, and maintenance activities for oil & gas facilities. The role requires strong hands-on experience in mechanical shutdown planning, coordination with multiple disciplines, and ensuring project milestones are achieved within approved timelines.


Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Certification in Primavera P6 (mandatory)
  • Shutdown / Turnaround Planning certification is a plus


Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop detailed shutdown and turnaround schedules using Primavera P6
  • Prepare Level 3 & Level 4 schedules for mechanical works
  • Define activity sequences, durations, and logic based on shutdown strategy
  • Integrate mechanical scope with other disciplines (E&I, Civil, QA/QC, HSE)

Shutdown & Turnaround Execution

  • Support shutdown preparation, execution, and post-shutdown close-out
  • Coordinate with site teams, construction, maintenance, and operations
  • Track daily progress and update schedules accordingly
  • Identify schedule risks, delays, and propose recovery plans

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor manpower, productivity, and equipment utilization
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
  • Perform schedule variance analysis and critical path tracking
  • Support look-ahead planning and work front availability

Coordination & Interface Management

  • Liaise with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, QA/QC, and HSE teams
  • Participate in planning meetings, shutdown readiness reviews, and daily coordination meetings
  • Support planning inputs for method statements and execution strategies


Preferred Experience:

  • ADNOC / Middle East shutdown experience (preferred)
  • EPC or Maintenance Contractor background
  • Experience working on large-scale shutdowns and TA projects
