Job Description:

This role is critical to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality sourcing of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services for commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will balance vendor relationships, budget constraints, and project timelines to support operational excellence and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Take personal responsibility for working safely within an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) culture.
  • Responsible for managing and monitoring material procurement for the project, including submittal approval, fabrication status, and delivery status.
    • Monitor and respond in a timely manner to all purchase requests
    • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers and subcontractors aligned with project needs and company standards.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing and delivery terms to optimize cost and quality.
    • Maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure reliability and resolve issues proactively.
  • Responsible for procurement operations.
    • Manage purchase orders, RFQs, and procurement schedules.
    • Track material deliveries and coordinate with site teams to ensure timely availability.
    • Monitor inventory levels and forecast needs based on project timelines and scope.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering, bulk purchasing, and alternative sourcing
  • Be a collaborative team member on project teams.
    • Partner with project managers, superintendents, and operations teams to align procurement timelines with construction schedules.
    • Work closely with construction, finance, and legal teams to streamline procurement workflows
    • Support preconstruction efforts by providing cost data and supplier insights.
    • Participate in post-project reviews to identify procurement improvements.
  • Build and maintain subcontractor relationships; assist with the facilitation of bids and presentations.
    • Assist new subcontractors/vendors in the prequalification process to ensure a smooth process.
    • Act as a point of contact for subcontractors for prequalification questions; research questions and provide timely follow-up.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • History of experience and proven results including:
    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, construction management, or business 3+ years of procurement experience, preferably with a commercial contractor.
    • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Procore, P6, Bluebeam, and Prolog.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, subcontractor scopes, and project lifecycles preferred.
  • Willingness to work in various (sometimes extreme) climate conditions.
  • Ability to travel to project work sites up to 70+ miles away.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
  • Strong analytical and logic skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of precision on detailed work.
  • Developed skills (written, oral, and listening) in order to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple priorities simultaneously under time constraints.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build successful and lasting relationships.

Estimated Pay:

$87,000.00 - $140,000.00
