Job Title: Project Engineer
Reporting To: Managing Director

Job Purpose
The Project Engineer is fully responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and delivering for any projects from order confirmation to final handover.
As the sole project authority within YKM Group, the role requires managing:
- Internal factory operations
- Production coordination
- Procurement planning
- Site execution & installation
- Client communication
- Cost control
- Quality assurance
- Project reporting
The position ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with client specifications and YKM quality standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Complete Project Ownership
- Take full responsibility for projects after sales order confirmation.
- Review contract, BOQ, drawings, and specifications thoroughly.
- Prepare complete project execution strategy.
- Ensure project completion within agreed timelines.
- Act as the single point of accountability for project success.
2. Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop detailed project plan including:
- Production schedule
- Material requirement planning
- Site installation schedule
- Manpower planning
- Prioritize multiple projects based on urgency.
- Monitor project milestones and deadlines.
- Identify risks and create mitigation plans.
- Ensure smooth coordination between factory and site activities.
3. Client Coordination & External Communication
- Act as main contact person for clients regarding project matters.
- Attend client meetings and site meetings.
- Clarify technical drawings and specifications with client/consultant.
- Handle variation requests and scope changes.
- Provide progress updates and resolve client complaints.
- Maintain strong professional relationship with clients.
4. Production & Fabrication Coordination (Internal Operations)
Coordinate with Production Supervisor for manufacturing of:
- Wire mesh panels
- Fence posts
- Razor wire
- Gates
- Custom fabricated fencing
- Ensure materials are produced as per approved drawings.
- Monitor daily production progress.
- Avoid delays by proper planning.
- Ensure correct dimensions, welding quality, coating, and finishing.
- Prioritize urgent jobs when necessary.
5. Procurement & Material Planning
- Prepare material requirement list based on BOQ.
- Coordinate with Procurement Officer for:
- Any material/raw material
- Accessories
- Consumables
- Verify specifications before purchasing.
- Monitor supplier delivery timelines.
- Avoid material shortage at factory or site.
- Ensure cost-effective purchasing without compromising quality.
6. Site Execution & Installation Management
- Plan and supervise fencing installation at project sites.
- Coordinate with site supervisors and installation teams.
- Conduct site visits and inspections regularly.
- Ensure correct alignment, leveling, and fixing of fences.
- Handle on-site technical challenges.
- Ensure proper use of manpower and tools.
- Monitor daily site productivity.
- Ensure safe working conditions at site.
7. Logistics & Delivery Coordination
- Coordinate with storekeeper for material dispatch.
- Ensure correct quantities and specifications are delivered to site.
- Align delivery schedule with installation timeline.
- Minimize material damages and handling errors.
- Track movement of materials between factory and site.
8. Cost Control & Budget Monitoring
- Monitor project cost against estimated budget.
- Control material wastage.
- Avoid unnecessary overtime and idle manpower.
- Minimize rework and errors.
- Ensure project profitability as per estimation.
9. Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure production and installation meet company standards.
- Conduct inspections before material dispatch.
- Check finishing, welding quality, galvanizing, and coating.
- Ensure site installation is done properly and neatly.
- Rectify defects immediately.
- Maintain high quality standards representing YKM Group.
10. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain complete project documentation:
- BOQ
- Drawings
- Delivery notes
- Site reports
- Material records
- Prepare weekly progress reports for management.
- Maintain proper record of variations and additional works.
- Support accounts team for project billing documentation.
- Assist in preparing completion documents.
11. Interdepartmental Coordination
- Coordinate with Sales team for project clarifications.
- Coordinate with Estimation team for BOQ and cost queries.
- Coordinate with Accounts for invoicing and payment follow-up.
- Coordinate with HR for manpower planning if required.
- Ensure smooth communication across all departments.
12. Project Completion & Handover
- Conduct final site inspection before completion.
- Ensure all punch list items are closed.
- Confirm client satisfaction.
- Support project closing and final documentation.
- Ensure proper project handover to client.
- Sometime and anytime needs to stay on sites as per the organisation requirements.
13. Multi-Project Management
- Handle multiple fencing projects simultaneously.
- Prioritize tasks based on urgency and deadlines.
- Maintain high efficiency under pressure.
- Make quick decisions to avoid delays.
