Project Manager / Product Owner – US Healthcare

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Product Owner to lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of the Hospital System modernization program. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing large-scale enterprise software projects and will serve as the primary bridge between client stakeholders, business users, and the WellWink engineering team.

This individual will be responsible for defining and managing the product roadmap, prioritizing requirements, overseeing project execution, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring that the modernization effort delivers measurable business value while meeting schedule, quality, and budget objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Delivery Leadership

  • Lead day-to-day management of the hospital system modernization project using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, release schedules, and delivery roadmaps.
  • Track project progress, manage timelines, identify risks, and proactively resolve issues.
  • Manage project scope, change requests, dependencies, and resource coordination.
  • Prepare and present regular status reports, progress updates, and executive summaries to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, QA, DevOps, UI/UX, database, and business analysts.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet agreed quality standards and acceptance criteria.

Product Ownership & Requirements Management

  • Work closely with hospital system business users and their stakeholders to understand current workflows, challenges, and modernization goals.
  • Define, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog based on business value, technical dependencies, and project priorities.
  • Translate business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Make day-to-day product decisions and provide timely clarification to the development team.
  • Ensure that modernization efforts preserve critical business functionality while improving usability, performance, and maintainability.

Stakeholder & Communication Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact between client stakeholders and the WellWink delivery team.
  • Facilitate workshops, requirement gathering sessions, and product demonstrations.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment between business objectives and technical implementation.
  • Communicate project risks, decisions, dependencies, and trade-offs effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Quality, Compliance & Process Management

  • Ensure proper requirement traceability, testing readiness, and user acceptance processes.
  • Coordinate with QA teams to define testing strategies, test scenarios, and release readiness.
  • Support compliance with healthcare industry standards, security requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Continuously improve project processes, documentation standards, and Agile delivery practices.

Data Migration & Modernization Coordination

  • Coordinate modernization activities including legacy system analysis, feature migration, browser modernization, and technology upgrades.
  • Work with architects and engineers to balance technical debt reduction with business priorities.
  • Ensure migration phases are properly planned, validated, and communicated to stakeholders.

AI-Assisted Delivery & Productivity Management

  • Promote effective adoption of AI-assisted tools and processes to improve productivity, documentation, analysis, testing, and delivery efficiency.
  • Track productivity improvements and help establish practical AI-driven development workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience managing enterprise software projects.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working as a Project Manager, Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong experience managing Agile/Scrum software development teams.
  • Proven ability to manage large, multi-year software modernization or digital transformation programs.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), release management, and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience using project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing healthcare software projects, Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Electronic Health Records (EHR), or patient management systems.
  • Understanding of healthcare workflows, clinical operations, and administrative processes.
  • Experience managing legacy system modernization and technology transformation projects.
  • Familiarity with Java, React, APIs, databases, and modern software architectures sufficient to communicate effectively with engineering teams.
  • Experience coordinating offshore and distributed development teams.
  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), PMP, or Agile certifications are preferred.
  • Experience working with AI-assisted project management and software development tools.
