Purchase Executive (Transformer Industry)

India

Job Purpose:

To lead and manage the procurement function for raw materials, components, and services required in transformer manufacturing, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Procurement:
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for critical transformer materials like CRGO, copper, transformer oil, bushings, insulators, radiators, tanks, core materials, and hardware.
  • Identify and onboard reliable vendors/suppliers with strong quality and compliance track record.
  • Vendor Management:
  • Negotiate contracts, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Maintain long-term relationships with strategic suppliers.
  • Cost & Budget Control:
  • Ensure cost optimization through effective negotiations and alternate sourcing.
  • Monitor purchase budgets and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.
  • Operational Procurement:
  • Release purchase orders, track delivery timelines, and coordinate with production & stores for material requirements.
  • Ensure timely availability of raw materials and bought-out items to avoid production delays.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory regulations, and quality standards (ISO, BIS, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase order files, and vendor documents.
  • Cross-functional Coordination:
  • Collaborate with Design, Production, Quality, and Finance teams for smooth execution of projects.
  • Support new product development (NPD) by sourcing new components/materials.
  • Market Intelligence:
  • Track market trends, raw material price fluctuations, and competitor sourcing strategies.
  • Explore opportunities for imports/exports and global sourcing.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of transformer industry materials and components.
  • Expertise in strategic sourcing, vendor negotiations, and cost reduction.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / Tally or similar).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
  • Strong understanding of commercial terms, contracts, and logistics.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or Supply Chain Management (preferred).
  • MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain or Materials Management is an advantage.
  • 2-4 years of experience in procurement within the transformer or heavy electrical equipment industry.
  • Proven track record of handling large-volume purchases and vendor development.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
