Job Description – Purchase Manager (Strategic Sourcing)

Position Overview : The Purchase Manager will be responsible for managing all sourcing and purchasing activities for TYWIST. This includes garments as well as any other products required by the business. The role requires strong market knowledge, excellent vendor relationships, cost control, quality assurance, and timely procurement to support business growth. Extensive travel across India is an essential part of this role.

Key Responsibilities

- Strategically source garments and other required products as per business needs

- Identify reliable suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capability

- Maintain strong and active relationships with manufacturers, traders, and vendors

- Leverage existing market contacts and continuously develop new sourcing networks

- Negotiate best possible prices, MOQs, delivery timelines, and payment terms

- Ensure all sourced products meet brand quality and finishing standards

- Plan purchases in line with sales forecasts, seasons, and inventory requirements

- Ensure timely procurement to avoid stock shortages or overstocking

- Visit sourcing markets regularly to track trends, pricing, and availability

- Explore new product categories and sourcing opportunities beyond garments

- Coordinate closely with design, merchandising, sales, and warehouse teams

- Reduce sourcing risks by avoiding dependency on limited suppliers

- Maintain clear purchase records and submit regular reports to management

- Follow company policies and ethical sourcing practices at all times

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion, Textiles, Business, or related field (preferred)

- Proven experience in purchasing or sourcing for retail or apparel brands

- Strong and active contacts in Indian garment and general sourcing markets

- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills

- Good understanding of quality control, costing, and production processes

- Strong planning, follow-up, and coordination skills

- Willingness to travel extensively across India

Experience Requirement

- Minimum 3–6 years of relevant experience in sourcing or purchasing

- Experience with apparel or retail brands preferred

Travel Requirement

- Extensive pan-India travel is mandatory

- Travel expenses reimbursed as per company policy
