Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and tender documentation for civil and structural works.
- Analyze and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to confirm scope alignment, technical compliance, and competitive pricing.
- Implement effective cost control systems to monitor actual expenditures against approved budgets.
- Assess and document variations, claims, and change orders; ensure timely submission and contractual compliance.
- Verify subcontractor invoices, cross-check measured quantities, resolve discrepancies, and support final account settlement.
- Coordinate with project managers, design consultants, and procurement teams to align cost strategies with execution plans.
- Conduct value engineering studies, recommending cost-efficient alternatives that meet design intent and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance of all civil works with project specifications, contract requirements, and local authority regulations.
- Prepare interim valuations, progress claims, and maintain accurate cash flow projections.
- Support tendering and pre-contract activities including bid analysis, commercial assessments, and risk evaluations.
- Provide periodic cost and commercial reports, forecasts, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
- Maintain organized records of cost data, contracts, and commercial documentation for audits, claims, and project closeout.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional accreditation (MRICS, RICS, or equivalent) is an advantage.
- 6–8 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on civil/infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, methodologies, and commercial management principles.
- Proficiency in software such as Candy, CostX, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with FIDIC and other international standard forms of contract.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
