Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed BOQs, cost estimates, and tender documentation for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Review and analyze vendor and subcontractor proposals to ensure alignment with project specifications, technical standards, and cost efficiency.
- Monitor and control project expenditures, comparing actual costs against approved budgets, and implement corrective measures where necessary.
- Manage variations and change orders, ensuring accurate documentation, timely submission, and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Review and validate subcontractor invoices, address quantity discrepancies, and support the final account reconciliation process.
- Collaborate closely with design, engineering, and construction teams to align commercial planning with project objectives and progress.
- Contribute to value engineering by identifying cost-effective alternatives without compromising quality, safety, or regulatory compliance.
- Ensure all MEP works strictly adhere to project specifications, contractual terms, and local authority regulations.
- Prepare interim payment applications and assist with project cash flow management and forecasting.
- Support pre-contract activities including tender evaluations, risk assessments, and bid analysis.
- Prepare and present regular cost reports and commercial updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all commercial activities to support audits, claims, and project closeout.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification (MRICS, RICS, AIQS, or equivalent) preferred.
- 6–8 years of proven experience in MEP quantity surveying, ideally on large-scale high-rise or mixed-use developments.
- Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems, construction methodologies, and commercial management practices.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software including Candy, CostX, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with FIDIC and other international contract frameworks.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and capability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
