About the Role
Descon Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented
Quantity Surveyor – Structure
to support
pipe rack strengthening and structural retrofit works
within an Oil & Gas facility. The role requires precise quantity take-offs, progress tracking, and strong documentation control throughout the project lifecycle.
The QS will be responsible for extracting accurate quantities from
AutoCAD drawings and hard-copy sketches
, ensuring complete alignment with structural modification and retrofit requirements. The role also includes maintaining item-wise progress tracking, material reconciliation, and preparation of as-built measurement records. Strong coordination with engineering and site execution teams is essential for smooth project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform
accurate material quantity take-offs
from AutoCAD drawings, IFC documents, redlines, and hard-copy sketches.

Ensure quantities fully align with
pipe rack strengthening
and structural retrofit requirements.

Maintain detailed
item-wise progress tracking
, measurement sheets, and quantity logs.
-
Support material coordination, including
material tracking, reconciliation, and site requirement follow-ups
.

Update BOQs, measurement books, and site records in line with design changes and field conditions.

Prepare
as-built measurement records
, redline drawings, and supporting documents for project closeout.

Coordinate with engineering and site teams for clarifications, quantity validations, and documentation flow.

Assist in client verification of executed quantities and completion-stage submissions.
Qualifications & Experience:
-
DAE in Mechanical or Civil (preferred)
-
5–8 years of experience
in quantity surveying for structural works, preferably in Oil & Gas or industrial retrofit projects.
Proven experience in:

Structural steel and retrofit quantity take-offs
-
Working with AutoCAD, drawings, and on-site sketches

Material tracking and reconciliation
-
Preparing measurement records and as-built documentation
-
Experience working in
live plant environments
is an advantage.

Knowledge of structural strengthening, steel fabrication, and installation processes.
Technical Skills

Strong proficiency in
quantity take-offs
from AutoCAD and hard-copy drawings.

Ability to interpret structural details, retrofit drawings, and modification layouts.

Competence in maintaining
progress measurement sheets
, material logs, and as-built quantity documentation.

Understanding of structural elements, pipe rack components, and retrofit methodologies.

Familiarity with MS Excel, AutoCAD, and standard QS documentation practices.

Ability to identify discrepancies between drawings, site conditions, and material records.
