<ul><li>Must have a valid driver&rsquo;s license</li>
<li>Must possess your own reliable transportation as most locations are not accessible with public transportation.</li>

<li>Obtaining Electrical Trainee Certification according to state requirements.</li>
<li>High School Diploma or GED required for school with emphasis on good mathematical skills.</li>

<ul><li>Insuring installations comply with the NEC and (AHJ) authority having jurisdiction.</li>
<li>Properly reading blueprints, schematics and specifications.</li>
<li>Ordering materials for daily tasks.</li>
<li>Insuring Safety protocols are in use and enforced.</li>
<li>Maintaining OSHA documentation on the project.</li>
<li>Daily layout/safety (JSA) meetings with the project workforce. Perform weekly toolbox talks.</li>
<li>Installing electrical raceways.</li>
<li>Proper use of equipment for bending, cutting, pulling and installation of conduit and wire.</li>
<li>Providing power/interfaces from alternate power sources, i.e., generators solar/wind, battery (UPS systems)</li>
<li>Providing power connections to motors and controls, HVAC equipment, lighting, and lighting controls.</li>
<li>Installing fire alarm, security, and data/telecom systems.</li>
<li>Properly mounting switchboards, switchgear, panelboards, circuit breakers/fuses, meters, transformers, generators, rectifiers, transfer switches and various other equipment.</li>
<li>Adapting to the various types and forms of construction, i.e., lumber, concrete, concrete block, metal, tilt-up, poured in place, underground and above ground, single story to high-rise.</li>
<li>Working with various voltages, i.e., 12-24 volt, 48-volt DC, 120/240 volt, 120/208 volt, 277/480 volt.</li>
<li>Insuring the proper installation of the various building grounding systems.</li>
<li>Coordination with the other trades involved on the project.</li>
<li>Coordination with the General Contractor, Engineers and Owner or Owner&rsquo;s Representative.</li>
<li>Troubleshooting the various systems and components.</li>
<li>Replacing faulty equipment, wiring or controls.</li>
<li>Coordination with the (AHJ), electrical inspectors, fire alarm inspectors, elevator inspectors, and various other entities performing required inspections.</li>

<ul><li>Possession of an associate degree, <b>PLUS</b> four years of occupational experience in the subject matter area to be taught.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Six years of occupational experience in the subject matter to be taught, a journeyman&rsquo;s certificate in the subject matter area to be taught, <b>AND</b> completion of at least twelve (12) semester units of apprenticeship or college level course work. The twelve (12) semester unit requirement may be satisfied concurrently during the first two years of employment as an apprenticeship instructor.</li></ul>

We are seeking Substation Construction Apprentices to join our T&amp;D Services team in Alabama and Georgia. This is an entry level position that will enter the Phillips Inc. Apprenticeship Program.</p>
<p><b>
Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Perform substation construction and maintenance with minimal to no supervision. This includes trenching, installing conduit, pulling cable, wiring of outdoor electrical equipment, installing ground grids, installing foundations, setting steel structures, installing buswork and conductors, welding aluminum buswork, setting and adjusting air switches, installing circuit breakers, and setting main power transformers.</li>
<li>Follow all verbal and written instructions from senior crew members.</li>
<li>Operate company vehicle.</li>
<li>Assist Electricians by making ready materials and stocking trucks.</li>
<li>Learn to operate aerial lifts, forklifts, skidsteers, backhoes, excavators, boom trucks, and other equipment used in the construction of electrical substations.</li>
<li>Perform services in a safe and timely manner.</li>
<li>Maintain company equipment in a safe and efficient manner.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Requirements:</b></p>

I. Job Summary<br>

In tandem with a seasoned WM Driver and/or WM Driver Trainer, after receiving their Commercial Driving Permit, the Driver Apprentice will complete the required training to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle providing service to customers in their respective Line of Business (LOB). The Driver Apprentice will continue in this role until they complete all training requirements.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities<br>
</p><ul><li>After obtaining their Commercial Driving Permit, partners with a WM Driver and/or WM Driver Trainer to train on the proper way to operate a commercial refuse / recycling vehicle: * Operates vehicle in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws. * Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report). * Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch. * Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WM or directed by the Route Manager. * Works closely with Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices. * Notifies Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage. * Notifies Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service or potential safety hazards. * Communicates customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager. * Completely dumps all receptacles and leaves the customer&rsquo;s location clean and free of debris. * Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process. * Performs all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.</li><li>
Performs as an on-route Helper while obtaining their Commercial Driving Permit and completing the training to be a WM Driver: * Works in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws. * Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch. * Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WM or directed by the Route Manager. * Manually or mechanically load and empty residential and/or commercial containers into truck. * Containers maybe staged curbside, dockside, carryout, or require pullout to complete service. * Operates hoisting device to lift and empty bins or containers into truck hopper. * Assists driver with all backing maneuvers while on route. * Notifies Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage. * Notifies Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service or potential safety hazards. * Communicates customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager * Performs all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.</li></ul><p><br>
