</b></h3><div><div><p>The Mubadala Arabian Center for Climate and Environmental Sciences (Mubadala ACCESS), New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit an Associate Research Scientist to support a major NYU Abu Dhabi-OceanX initiative focused on advancing coral reef monitoring, applied research and regional capacity building across Southeast Asia, with particular emphasis on Malaysia.</p>
<p>
The successful applicant will play a central role in coordinating and implementing a multi-year coral reef monitoring and training program across Southeast Asia. The Associate Research Scientist will contribute to the design, coordination, and delivery of annual field missions aboard the RV OceanXplorer, support the implementation of standardized reef monitoring protocols, and deliver hands-on training programs for regional partners. The position includes supporting pre and post mission workshops, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and contributing to the development of regional scientific networks.</p>
<p>
The Associate Research Scientist will also assist in organizing an annual Southeast Asia learning exchange hosted at NYU Abu Dhabi, supporting agenda development, training sessions in reef monitoring and data analysis, and coordination with university administrative units. A key component of the role involves contributing to the organization and management of data and metadata systems associated with Southeast Asian reef monitoring activities conducted in partnership with OceanX. The candidate will support standardized data workflows, quality control, documentation, and the development of open-access products tailored to researchers, decision-makers, NGOs, and public audiences.</p>
<p>
The role further includes supporting reporting, communications, and stakeholder coordination across NYUAD, OceanX, Dalio Philanthropies, and regional partners. The Associate Research Scientist will contribute to progress updates, annual reports, stakeholder briefings, and public-facing communication materials in collaboration with NYUAD and OceanX Communications teams. The position is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with regular travel to Southeast Asia during mission and training periods.</p>
<p>
Applicants must hold a PhD in Marine Biology, Marine Science, Coral Reef Ecology, or a closely related field, with at least 3 years of relevant experience in their field (not including the years obtaining the PhD or equivalent terminal degree). Candidates must have demonstrated experience in coral reef monitoring programs in Southeast Asia, ideally in Malaysia, and hold SCUBA certification at a minimum of PADI Advanced Open Water (or equivalent). Experience delivering training or capacity-building programs, engaging with regional partners or government agencies, and contributing to peer-reviewed publications is required. Fluency in English is essential, and fluency in Malay/Bahasa Melayu is considered a strong asset. Preferred qualifications include advanced diving certification, training in ecological monitoring protocols, and experience with GIS, data management platforms, or applied reef assessment frameworks.</p>

</b></h3><div><div><p>The Perception and Active Cognition laboratory in the Center for Brain &amp; Health, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on the mechanisms underlying mental processing speed.</p>
<p>
The successful applicant will drive a fascinating project that links processing speed measures to previously acquired functional and structural MRI data. The project will also involve simultaneously acquired and co-registered fMRI and EEG measurements. Measures of cognitive &ldquo;Speed of Processing&rdquo; are important for studies of healthy aging and many disorders, including multiple sclerosis, autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, and schizophrenia, as well as diabetes and obesity. This project investigates the neural correlates of Speed of Processing and its subcomponents, translating into a more complete understanding of the mechanisms involved and their role in brain health. This project combines MRI and EEG/MEG studies with behavioral, genetic, and clinical measures to yield a more complete picture of how processing speed is related to health outcomes.</p>
<p>
The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.</p>
<p>
Applicants must have a PhD in psychology, cognitive neuroscience or a related field, and is still within their first 5 years since receiving their PhD. Strong neuroimaging data processing skills relevant to the project are required. </b></h3><div><div><p>The Center for Technology, Economics, and Development (CTED) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications from individuals to be appointed as a Junior Research Scientist (AI-Blockchain Project) for a one-year period, with the possibility of renewal conditional on excellent performance.</p>
<p>
The Junior Research Scientist (AI-Blockchain Research) will support advanced, quantitatively intensive research at CTED with a primary focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, mathematical modeling, and computational analysis. The Junior Research Scientist will play a central role in supporting research design, algorithmic development, data analysis, and coding tasks across CTED&rsquo;s interdisciplinary projects. Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Yaw Nyarko, and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI), Dr. Ra&scaron;a Karapandža, the Junior Research Scientist will contribute to AI-driven and blockchain-enabled research related to commodities markets and economic development. The role requires strong foundations in mathematics and computer science, including statistical learning, optimization, simulation, and algorithmic reasoning. The successful candidate will use programming and computational tools (including Python, MATLAB, and related libraries) to develop, test, and evaluate machine learning models; review, proofread, and execute formal mathematical proofs; implement optimization and simulation-based methods; and analyze large and complex datasets. Responsibilities include supporting experimental and field-based research, preparing literature reviews, translating complex AI and mathematical findings into clear written outputs, and contributing to research reports, concept notes, and academic publications.</p>
<p>
Candidates must hold a Master&rsquo;s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field (e.g., Economics with a strong mathematics background). and have less than five years of relevant research experience; or hold a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in a relevant field with any level of research experience. Applicants must have extensive coding experience, and preferably, applicants will have experience conducting field research in emerging countries and working on randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Applicants with experience working in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and/or MATLAB, a strong interest in economic and quantitative research and the willingness to learn about the blockchain, are encouraged to apply. Experience in web development, blockchain, commodities markets, and technology and economic development will be considered a plus. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment, working autonomously, but as a team member under the direction of the Principal Investigator.</p>
