The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description This position is situated in the Office of Court Administration (OCA) Counsel’s Office. Duties include, but are not limited to: (1) Assisting with all trial and appellate litigation conducted by Counsel’s Office, including litigation in federal and state court and before federal and state agencies involving Unified Court System (UCS) policies, practices and personnel. </li><li>Coordinate Agency response regarding legal compliance of CODIS and LDIS DNA Database.</li><li>Draft, review, and edit Non-Disclosure Agreements, Data Sharing Agreements, and Beta Testing pertaining to OCME laboratories, as well as contract specifications for specialized laboratory services.</li><li>Enhance an agency-wide witness training program for staff, including employees of the labs and forensic pathology.</li><li>Review all research projects, surveillance studies, and human subject research submissions involving the Agency.</li><li>Coordinate as needed with DOHMH Institutional Review Board.</li><li>Review and analyze local, state, and federal law and legislative recommendations and proposals related to forensic science and subject matters which may impact the Agency.</li><li>As needed, assist with resolution of dispute cases where intervention by the Legal Department is necessary.

The Deputy Editor will exhibit a strong editorial judgment and set the expectations and direction for NYLON&rsquo;s team of editors and freelancers. They will help establish and define coverage areas, oversee a content calendar of timely features and longer-lead packages and issues, and utilize traffic insights to inform future strategy and coverage opportunities. They&rsquo;ll also be responsible for contributing and leading during big brand moments (profiles, Q&amp;As, packages/issues, etc), maintaining industry relationships, and working with senior leadership to secure exclusive and needle-moving stories. This role will also serve as one of the main points of contact for Editorial Operations and Sales, to ensure the brand is fulfilling all business obligations.</div><div></div><div><br>
The Deputy Editor will act as both a manager, coach, and mentor to writers and editors, helping them to approach stories with sharp angles, analysis, and originality. They should be comfortable providing written and verbal feedback that is clear, concise, and constructive. This role will be responsible for performance management, hiring and staffing decisions for this team. The Deputy Editor should be able to implement strategy adjustments when required and be comfortable collaborating with HR on wider business initiatives.</div><div></div><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b><br>
Key Accountabilities</b></h3><ul><li>
Manage an editorial team, which includes setting professional goals, scheduling check ins, and providing regular performance feedback. All performance management for full time staff would roll up under this role including hiring and exiting any low performing staff.</li><li>
Oversee budgets, production timelines, and form part of the site&rsquo;s leadership team, together with the Editor in Chief and SVP, Editorial Strategy.</li><li>
Oversee the daily, monthly, and quarterly assignments of the wider NYLON team, while ensuring each contribute to the site and vertical's goals of producing buzzy original contentUse internal analytics, SEO tools, social insights, and trends to identify new opportunities across platforms</li><li>
Provide strategic direction to editors on assignments, angles, and story structureWork collaboratively across departments to identify coverage opportunities</li><li>

<p><b>POSITION DETAILS</b></p>
<p>The Office of the General Counsel at CUNY is a system-wide resource for legal advice and representation. The OGC provides legal counsel to the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor, and the University's 25 constituent colleges. Its services touch all operational areas of the University, and its campuses, and supports CUNY's decision makers in advancing the University's educational mission by providing expert, relevant and timely legal advice, guidance and advocacy.</p>
<p>The Senior University Counsel - Legal Operations serves as a strategic advisor and operational leader within the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs and General Counsel. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice Chancellor, this individual will provide both high-level legal counsel and executive oversight of the office's administrative, financial, and operational functions.</p>
<p>This position is a key member of the office's senior leadership team, contributing to the development and execution of strategic goals, managing complex and sensitive projects, and ensuring operational excellence across the department. The incumbent will also provide legal services in a broad range of subject areas, including legal research, drafting memoranda, and advising on matters affecting the University's mission and compliance obligations. They will work collaboratively across all OGC units, University and college campus offices to provide legal guidance and develop legal strategies and responses, draft, interpret and implement policies and procedures, identify potential litigation and policy issues and strategies, and handle employee and other confidential matters.</p>

<p><b>QUALIFICATIONS</b></p>
<p>Minimum:</p>
<p>This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.</p>

<ul><li><div>Juris Doctor Degree and 15 years' related experience as a practicing attorney required, including experience in university, law firm, government or non-profit organization.</div></li>
