 Job Summary:
 
 
 
 The Engineering Manager is responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering department at Raffles &amp; Fairmont Doha. This role ensures that all hotel facilities, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, are properly maintained and meet safety, quality, and service standards. The Engineering Manager also focuses on energy conservation and sustainability initiatives, ensuring smooth operations and high levels of guest satisfaction.

 Oversee the commissioning and decommissioning of engineering systems as needed during renovations or upgrades.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team and help us to move the experimentation platform at Booking to the next level. Your role is to enable your team and help each team member to achieve their goals. You get things done via influence, not authority. As an Engineering Manager, you are responsible for one or two engineering teams and the technology that the teams own. Empower engineers to develop their careers by providing ad-hoc applicable coaching</li><li>
Help building and enriching an inclusive work environment comprised of people from diverse backgrounds</li><li>
Contribute to projects by guiding architectural discussions, providing technical coaching to software engineers and occasionally getting hands-on with coding</li><li>
Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes to both supervise health and allow continuous improvement</li><li>
Provide technical guidance to both your team members and your project peers</li><li>
Drive team efforts to establish bottom-up projects and roadmaps supporting our vision</li><li>

The job requirements</h1><ul><li>
At least 3 years of experience leading and managing a team of engineers in a fast-paced and complex environment</li><li>
6+ years of experience in software development with proficiency in one of the following languages: Java, Perl, Python, JavaScript (NodeJS)</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field or 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty as equivalent</li><li>
A deep understanding of software development in a team, and a track record of developing and shipping software</li><li>
Familiarity with agile best practices for the full software development life cycle such as coding standards, code reviews, and version control in Git</li><li>
Experience working with cloud technologies like AWS, Docker, and/or Kubernetes</li><li>
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and cooperate with people at all levels</li><li>
Experience in working on products with a large customer base and company wide impact</li><li>
Experience in designing and architecting APIs, dealing with high traffic and security concerns</li><li>
Strong Coding &amp; System design skills with ability to get hands-on with your team if needed</li><li>
You are a humble and thoughtful technology leader, you lead by example and gain your teammates&rsquo; respect through actions, not the title</li><li>
Experience in managing platform teams related to data products is a plus</li><li>
