POSITION SUMMARY:
Developmental and RNA biology of protozoan pathogens
We are seeking a research scientist to join our projects on the molecular and developmental biology of protozoan pathogens, and on the nature of human immunity to these pathogens. The project uses a combination of complementary genetic, molecular, immunological, and informatic methods, and the scientist will have direct responsibility for research activities in the lab and will also collaborate with the principal investigator to write manuscripts/grant proposals. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in cellular and molecular biology and immunology, especially with respect to protozoan pathogens, and expertise in basic cell, molecular biological, and immunological techniques. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the abilities to establish clear goals, organize and prioritize research, work with a diverse and collaborative team, and thrive within a multi-disciplinary environment are critical.

Review family petitions, T and U visas, VAWA applications, adjustment of status (AOS), naturalization, parole in place (PIP), waivers, and other immigration benefits. Collaborate effectively with fellow attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to provide comprehensive legal services. Stay current on immigration laws, policies, and procedures to ensure the best legal strategies for clients. Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders to ensure clarity and professionalism in all legal matters. Travel nationwide as required for court hearings, client meetings, and case-related matters. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active membership in good standing with a state bar. Membership in the Washington (WA), Florida (FL), or Illinois (IL) state bars is a strong plus. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience practicing law, with a strong emphasis on immigration litigation. Proven experience representing clients in immigration courts and administrative proceedings. Criminal defense experience is a plus. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Ability to manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining strong attention to detail and client-focused service. Experience handling immigration applications including but not limited to T/U visas, VAWA, AOS, naturalization, PIP, waivers, and related immigration relief. Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex legal information clearly and effectively. Compassionate and able to work effectively under high-pressure and demanding situations. Willingness to travel nationwide as necessary for case-related matters, including travel to Seattle, WA.
