Operational Management:<br>
<br>
<li>Supervise and coordinate daily drilling activities on-site.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Plan drilling operations in alignment with project schedules, budgets, and client requirements.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Ensure correct rig set-up, alignment, and drilling practices for various formations.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Monitor drilling performance, penetration rates, and core recovery to optimize efficiency.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Troubleshoot technical and operational problems, including stuck rods, fluid loss, or unstable formations.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Ensures the highest level of safety, health and environmental work standards are maintained. Inspect drill sites and work areas to confirm safety and address hazards before work begins.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Lead the drilling teams through toolbox talks at the start of Day &amp; Night shifts.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Verify pre-checks on all vehicles, equipment, and rigs before each shift.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Manage surface and underground drilling rig activities and closely monitor the field rig operations, including continuous performance improvements in both personnel and equipment. Ensure that performance and issues are recorded and reported.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Develop and implement a rigorous preventative maintenance schedule, leveraging data-driven insights to minimize equipment downtime and operational costs</li><br>
<br>
<br>
Team Leadership:<br>
<br>
<li>Lead and manage drilling crews, ensuring clear communication of tasks and responsibilities.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Provide on-the-job training and guidance to operators, assistants, and support staff.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety among crew members.</li><br>
<br>
Technical Oversight:<br>
<br>
<li>Ensure proper use of drilling fluids, downhole tools, and core recovery equipment.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Verify accuracy and completeness of drilling logs, depth records, and daily reports.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Inspect equipment regularly and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs or servicing.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Ensure samples are collected, preserved, and documented according to specifications.</li><br>
<br>
Reporting &amp; Client Interface:<br>
<br>
<li>Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and end-of-project reports as required.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Communicate regularly with project managers, geologists, and clients regarding progress and challenges.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Provide technical input and recommendations to improve drilling performance and safety.</li><br>
<br>
Qualifications &amp; Experience:<br>
<br>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree Mining/ Geology is a plus.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Minimum 5 &ndash; 7 years&rsquo; experience in drilling operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Proven expertise in diamond core drilling and/or reverse circulation drilling.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Solid understanding of drilling fluids, downhole survey tools, and geological formations.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Strong knowledge of HSE practices in drilling operations.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Proficiency in preparing and reviewing drilling reports.</li><br>
<br>

Manages the planning and execution of drilling, development and reserves analysis projects. The Drilling Operations Manager manages the proper use of equipment and maintenance planning. Plans and develops revisions or improvements to solve drilling and repair problems. May give input in developing budget. Able to resolve escalating problems arising from operations that require coordination with other departments.<br>

Job Description<br>
<br>
<br>
The Surface Driller DD and /or RC, is responsible for safely and efficiently operating drilling rigs and associated equipment<br>
<br>
for mineral exploration projects. The role involves drilling boreholes to obtain core samples, maintaining high safety and<br>
<br>
environmental standards, and ensuring drilling productivity and quality in accordance with client and company requirements.<br>
<br>
Key Responsibilities<br>
<br>
Drilling Operations<br>
<br>
<li>Operate surface diamond and / or RC drill rigs to extract core samples from designated drill sites.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Monitor drilling parameters, adjust techniques, and maintain core recovery and quality.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Set up, align, and dismantle drill rigs and support equipment as required.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Conduct routine inspections of rigs and equipment to ensure safe working condition.</li><br>
<br>
Safety &amp; Compliance and Follow all protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure safety and compliance on the job site<br>
<br>
<li>Adhere to company safety protocols, procedures, and environmental policies.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Conduct pre-start checks, risk assessments, and participate in safety meetings.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Report hazards, incidents, and equipment malfunctions immediately.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Ensure accurate core recovery and core handling procedures.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Maintain correct drill hole depths, core orientation, and detailed drilling records.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Assist in the transportation, marking, and secure storage of drill core.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on rigs, rods, pumps, and compressors.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Coordinate with mechanics and supervisors for major equipment repairs.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Ensure rig and worksite are kept clean, safe, and organized.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Supervise and mentor drill assistants/offsiders as required.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Communicate progress, issues, and requirements with supervisors and geologists.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Work collaboratively with site personnel to achieve drilling targets.</li><br>
<br>
Qualifications &amp; Skills<br>
<br>
<li>Minimum 5-7 years&rsquo; experience operating surface diamond drill rigs.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Strong knowledge of drilling techniques, core orientation, and downhole survey tools.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license and ability to work in remote locations.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Understanding of safety standards, mine site regulations, and environmental practices.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Physical fitness and ability to work long shifts in challenging outdoor conditions.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Safety-conscious and detail-oriented.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Strong problem-solving and mechanical skills.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Good communication and teamwork abilities.</li><br>
<br>
<li>Self-motivated, reliable, and adaptable to changing site conditions.</li></div>
