 We are seeking Post-Doctoral Associates who are passionate about Data Science, with an emphasis in Computational Social Science, with a starting date of September 1, 2026. Some of the possible research topics include: (i) social media analysis, (ii) collaboration and teamwork, (iii) gender inequality, (iv) diversity, (v) online controlled experiments, and (vi) network science.
 
 
 The ideal candidate is self-motivated and hard-working with a PhD in Data Science, Computational Social Science, Computer Science, or Information Science, with no more than five years post receipt of the PhD. The position requires experience with at least one of the following: Data Science, Machine Learning, Computational Social Science, Big Data. Relevant skills could include statistical analysis, data management and collection, causal inference, network analysis, graph theory, visualizations, and online tool development. Experience in conducting online controlled experiments is also desired, but not required. Excellent communication skills in English, ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential.
 
 
 Selected candidates will spend half their time on collaborative research with Bedoor AlShebli, an Assistant Professor in Computational Social Science in the Social Science Division at NYUAD, and half their time on independent research. The selected candidate will receive an appointment for three years. The position provides salary higher than internationally competitive rates for Post-Doctoral / Research Engineering / Research Associate positions, in addition to substantial benefits (generous housing, transportation and travel allowances, educational subsidies for children), together with full health insurance and retirement contributions. The UAE does not levy income tax.

Junior Research Scientist in the Division of Social Science (CITIES) - Dr. Etienne Wasmer

<div>Professor Dave Russell at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a Research Scientist to conduct studies in the area of accretion onto compact objects. Candidates with interest and experience in technical expertize related to coding and maintaining pipelines for optical imaging / photometric data analysis, are strongly encouraged to apply. Interest in the study of accreting black holes or neutron stars are also preferred. Resposibilities:
In this role, you will write and test pipelines for astronomical data analysis, analyze multi-wavelength astronomical data from black hole and neutron star X-ray binaries and related objects, and obtain new data of these sources. This includes, but not limited to; preparing publications based on the results, giving presentations at international conferences and institutes/universities and working with members of the Accretion &amp; Jets group of D. Russell at NYUAD, and international collaborators.
Candidates would be working with Principal Investigator (PI) Dave Russell and his group. The Physics group at NYUAD currently has more than a dozen faculty members and 20+ post-docs and research associates; most are members of the Center for Astrophysics and Space Science (CASS). The group shares close links with staff at NYU in New York. Stellar-mass black holes residing in X-ray binaries (XBs) produce the most powerful jets in our galaxy via accretion from an orbiting companion star. The main objective of the research program of the PI is to uncover the nature of accretion and relativistic jets onto black holes and neutron stars, and understand the connections between accretion and ejection. The processes involved in triggering outbursts, using optical monitoring and the real-time pipeline X-ray Binary New Early Warning System (XB-NEWS) developed at NYUAD, and comparisons to AGN and other compact objects, are also studied. A host of techniques and approaches are employed, in particular using a wealth of multi-wavelength data of transient XBs (photometry, spectra and polarimetry), interactions between jets and the interstellar medium and data from other accreting objects such as AGN, CVs and gamma-ray bursts. Funds are available for travel to conferences, collaborations or observing trips. Successful candidates will be encouraged to develop independent projects in addition to supporting the research of the PI.
Qualifications:
Candidate must hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience in their field (not including the years obtaining the PhD or equivalent terminal degree) along with extensive research and publication in well-known journals and conference papers or similar research accomplishments. In their role, these specialists are responsible for designing, managing, undertaking, and analyzing research will have experience with astronomical data pipelines, and extensive research and publications in well-known journals. Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.

 The Center for Technology, Economics, and Development (CTED) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications from individuals to be appointed as a Junior Research Scientist (AI-Blockchain Project) for a one-year period, with the possibility of renewal conditional on excellent performance.
 
 
 The Junior Research Scientist (AI-Blockchain Research) will support advanced, quantitatively intensive research at CTED with a primary focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, mathematical modeling, and computational analysis. The Junior Research Scientist will play a central role in supporting research design, algorithmic development, data analysis, and coding tasks across CTED&rsquo;s interdisciplinary projects. Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Yaw Nyarko, and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI), Dr. Ra&scaron;a Karapand&zcaron;a, the Junior Research Scientist will contribute to AI-driven and blockchain-enabled research related to commodities markets and economic development. The role requires strong foundations in mathematics and computer science, including statistical learning, optimization, simulation, and algorithmic reasoning. The successful candidate will use programming and computational tools (including Python, MATLAB, and related libraries) to develop, test, and evaluate machine learning models; review, proofread, and execute formal mathematical proofs; implement optimization and simulation-based methods; and analyze large and complex datasets. Responsibilities include supporting experimental and field-based research, preparing literature reviews, translating complex AI and mathematical findings into clear written outputs, and contributing to research reports, concept notes, and academic publications.
 
 
 Candidates must hold a Master&rsquo;s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field (e.g., Economics with a strong mathematics background). and have less than five years of relevant research experience; or hold a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in a relevant field with any level of research experience. Applicants must have extensive coding experience, and preferably, applicants will have experience conducting field research in emerging countries and working on randomized controlled trials (RCTs).  The Clinical Artificial Intelligence Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to improve patient care by developing new machine learning methodologies that tackle unique computational problems in healthcare applications. We use large real-world complex datasets, including data extracted from electronic health records and medical images, for applications pertaining to patient diagnostics and prognostics.
 
 
 
 Skills
 
 
 
 We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the team and make significant contributions to the field. The researcher is expected to have (i) strong machine learning skills to improve model performance and robustness, and (ii) exemplary passion and motivation to pursue multidisciplinary research at the intersection of computing and healthcare. Methodologies of interest include:

 Support the supervisor in developing and implementing the research agenda;

 Conduct high-quality and innovative research primarily focused on ML methodology development for healthcare;

 Generate new high-impact ideas based on gaps and limitations of the state-of-the-art (SOTA);
 </li>
 <li>
 Design and implement experiments to compare proposed work with SOTA baselines;
 </li>
 <li>
 Publish research findings in high-impact journals and conferences;
 </li>
 <li>
 Communicate and present research findings at international academic gatherings;
 </li>

 Create, maintain, and document high-quality research code for reproducibility;

 Maintain good practice in managing and accessing sensitive medical datasets;

 Minimum Qualifications

 Currently has or is in the process of completing a PhD, MD/PhD, DPhil or equivalent terminal degree from a recognized institution (no more than 5 years since completing the doctoral degree)

 Doctoral research in the area of machine learning and artificial intelligence

 Bachelor&rsquo;s/ Master&rsquo;s degree in computer science, mathematics, computer engineering, or relevant technical field

 First-author peer-reviewed published papers (or under review)
 </li>
 <li>
 Proficient programming experience in Python and libraries (e.g., Pytorch, TensorFlow) with several years of practice

 Experience in maintaining high-quality code on Github

 Experience in running and managing experiments using GPUs

 Ability to visualize experimental results and learning curves
