 We are inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in demography, epidemiology, public health, or a related discipline in the social sciences. The appointment will begin September 1, 2026, subject to final budget approval and is available for up to three years.
 
 
 The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half their time on collaborative research with Professor St&eacute;phane Helleringer. The collaborative research will be on population health and its determinants in low-and-middle-income countries, with an emphasis on measurement issues and the impact of crises such as epidemics and disasters.
 
 
 The job entails conducting high-quality research on population health and its determinants in low-and-middle-income countries. This includes conceptualizing research questions, designing empirical studies, collecting or acquiring new data sets, and analyzing these data using advanced statistical models and visualization techniques. The job also emphasizes the dissemination of knowledge about population health, particularly through the preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts, software packages and/or participation in international conferences.
 
 
 Candidates must hold a PhD in demography, epidemiology, public health or related discipline in the social sciences. The ideal candidate is preferred to have prior experience with data collection and collaboration in low-and-middle-income countries and good knowledge of R or other software for data management, analysis and visualization.
 
 
 The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation. You would join a group of over 20 post-doctoral fellows and 70 faculty in the Division of Social Science.

<div>The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seek to recruit a Post-doctoral Associate to work on a fascinating project focused on the development machine-learning powered digital twin system for the structural performance of civil engineering structures. The project is a collaboration between multiple research groups led primarily by Professor Tarek Abdoun and Professor Mostafa Mobasher. It involves a diverse range of activities including: structural and geotechnical modeling, machine-learning model development, structural sensing and health monitoring, conducting physical experiments, and validation of computational models.
Required Qualifications:
A successful applicant must have a PhD in Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or Mechanical Engineering with no more than five years post receipt of the PhD. Applicants are expected to demonstrate research experience in the fields of structural modeling and machine-learning model development.

Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Engineering (Civil Engineering) - Dr. Mostafa Mobasher

<div>The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to support the project LANDMark on research on land economics, in any of the following areas:
<ul><li>Measurement of land prices, with a focus on imputation techniques
</li><li>Land value determinants: public infrastructures (transport, health, and education services)
</li><li>Macroeconomic stability and instability in the presence of land as a fixed, non-produced asset
</li><li>Taxation of land wealth as an alternative to the consumption tax and the capital tax
</li><li>The political economy of land and its taxation
</li><li>Land, fixed resources, and political conflict
</li></ul>The successful applicant will contribute to the research centered on any of these themes.
The qualified candidate will have an MSc or an MA in economics or another quantitative field with no more than five years from receipt of the degree, and an appetite for working on interdisciplinary teams.
This position requires:
<div><ul><li>Research experience in the mentioned areas of land (in a broad sense, including housing, macroeconomics, labor, urban, spatial economics, political economy, and conflict).
</li></ul><ul><li>Excellent communication skills in English.

About LANDMark (Land Assets, National Development and Markets):
This project, developed by Etienne Wasmer, professor of Economics and program head in Economics at NYUAD, and funded for the next 6 years (2027-2032), brings together a group of researchers working on land all over the world. A team of 4 postdocs will constitute the project's core. Associations and collaborative research funding projects with researchers in Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, and Political Science are encouraged. The post-doctoral associate will be hosted in the Social Science Division, near the economics faculty, and can be affiliated with CITIES (infra).
