Senior Accountant / Portfolio Manager

Your Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of a defined portfolio of UK-based clients spanning hospitality, property, manufacturing, and professional services.
• Review, prepare and quality-check accounts, VAT returns, corporation tax, and self-assessment work produced by you and your team.
• Proactively identify opportunities to expand client relationships through upselling and cross-selling across Direct Assist Accountants full service offering
• Anticipate compliance risks before they escalate, and come prepared with solutions — not just problems
• Drive accountability within the accounts team, holding colleagues to the deadlines and quality standards your portfolio demands
• Provide the Director of Operations with a weekly update on portfolio performance and pipeline activity
• Play an active role in building the systems, processes, and standards that will underpin the firm's next stage of growth
• This role requires regular direct liaison with both HMRC and clients, making strong spoken English and confident, professional telephone manner essential.
  
  

What We Are Looking For

• Between four and six years of UK accountancy experience, gained either in the UK or within a Pakistan-based firm servicing UK clients
• Solid, hands-on knowledge of UK accounts preparation, VAT, corporation tax, and self-assessment
• Strong communicator in English — written and spoken — to a standard that inspires client confidence
• Proven experience managing or reviewing the work of junior or semi-senior team members
• ACCA qualified or at finalist stage preferred; exceptional experience without full qualification will be considered.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks Online and IRIS is a distinct advantage.
