Senior Planning Engineer

Role Purpose

To develop, monitor, and update project schedules to ensure timely project delivery. The Planning Engineer supports project teams by providing accurate progress tracking, forecasts, and reports, ensuring alignment with project objectives and resource plans. 

Key Accountabilities

• Develop detailed project schedules using planning software (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.). 
• Collaborate with project and site teams to gather information and input for accurate planning. 
• Monitor project progress against the baseline program and update schedules accordingly. 
• Identify critical paths, risks, and delays, and recommend mitigation measures. 
• Prepare and submit periodic progress reports to project stakeholders and management. 
• Analyse productivity, forecast completion dates, and generate earned value reports. 
• Participate in project meetings, providing planning and scheduling insights. 
• Assist in resource planning and allocation in coordination with relevant departments. 
• Support the preparation of extension of time (EOT) claims with proper justifications. 
• Ensure alignment of project schedules with contractual milestones and deliverables. 

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field. 
• Minimum 2-4 years of experience in planning and scheduling within the construction industry. 
• Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint). 
• Solid understanding of construction sequences, project management, and budgeting. 
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. 
• Knowledge of earned value management (EVM) is a plus. 
• PMP or PSP certification is an advantage.
