Job Description: Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are entrusted with a major, long-term infrastructure project in Oman and are seeking highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors to join our dynamic team. Position Summary: We are seeking ten (10) proactive and commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyors (5 Local Nationals and 5 Expatriates) to provide expert cost and contractual management from inception to completion. The successful candidates will be integral to ensuring the financial success of a major infrastructure project, delivering value for money while adhering to the highest professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive pre and post-contract quantity surveying services for a large-scale infrastructure project.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and elemental cost plans during the design phase.
- Manage the tender process, including preparation of tender documents, tender analysis, negotiation, and preparation of contract recommendations.
- Administer contracts (likely FIDIC-based), including valuations, variation assessment, cost reporting, and final account agreements.
- Provide strategic advice on contractual claims, disputes, and their resolution.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly cost reports and forecasts for senior management.
- Perform rigorous risk and value management analysis and cost control.
- Liaise effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure clear communication and project alignment.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff within the quantity surveying team.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Essential: A minimum of a 3-4 year full-time BSc in Quantity Surveying from an institution accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
- Essential: Chartered Membership (MRICS) is mandatory.
- Essential: A minimum of 10 years' post-graduate experience in a quantity surveying role.
- Essential: Proven consultancy experience within the design and construction sector.
- Essential: Demonstrable experience on at least two major infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, railways, ports, water networks, or large utilities projects).
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Expert knowledge of standard forms of contract, particularly FIDIC.
- Proven ability in cost planning, estimating, and cost control methodologies.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen with exceptional negotiation skills.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- High proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., MS Office, CostX, Candy, etc.).
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
