A storekeeper manages stock from receipt to dispatch, focusing on accurate inventory control, organization, and record-keeping, ensuring materials are readily available for operations while maintaining the storeroom's cleanliness and security. Key duties include receiving and inspecting deliveries, stocking shelves, tracking inventory levels, issuing supplies, conducting stocktakes, managing documentation, and coordinating surplus/obsolete items. Key Responsibilities

  • Receiving & Inspection: Accept deliveries, verify quantities, check for damages/discrepancies, and return incorrect items.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate stock records, perform regular stocktakes, and monitor stock levels for replenishment.
  • Storage & Organization: Store items logically for easy access, maintain stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO), and ensure the store is clean and organized.
  • Issuing & Dispatch: Issue materials to departments, prepare requisitions, and document all withdrawals.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on stock, departmental charges, and requisitions.
  • Disposal: Manage surplus, expired, or obsolete stock according to company policy.

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Proficiency with inventory management software.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks like lifting and standing.
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with other departments.
  • Knowledge of safe storage practices and basic maintenance.
