TITLE : Elementary/Intermediate School Secretary/Bookkeeper
QUALIFICATIONS :
- High School Diploma
- Experience as a secretary/bookkeeper preferred
- Proficient in data entry, spelling, proofreading and the correct use of grammar
- Working knowledge of accounting practices and previous experience in computerized accounting systems
- Basic First Aid Skills
- Multitasking ability, congenial etiquette and effective interpersonal skills
REPORTS TO : Principal and Chief School Finance Officer
JOB GOALS :
- To provide administrative support by assisting with the operation of the school office. To prepare financial data and assist in the administration of the system’s business affairs as it relates to local school accounting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSILIBITES :
- Perform daily office routines and procedures
- Assist students, faculty, and public through the School Office
- Compile, maintain, and coordinate a variety of manual and electronic documents, files and records (Personnel records, fundraiser requests, revenues received from fundraisers, field trip request, work orders, emergency information etc.)
- Prepare a variety of correspondence, reports and other material for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information
- Maintain a complete and systematic set of records for all financial transactions
- Record detail of school financial transactions on computerized accounting system
- Prepares daily deposits
- Reconciles monthly bank statements
- Responsible for assistance in preparing annual local school budget
- Prepare and maintain payroll records
- Trace errors and record adjustments to correct changes or credits posted to incorrect accounts
- Assist other office personnel as may be required
- Assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
- Twelve-month year. Salary is established by the Scottsboro City Schools Salary Schedule.
EVALUATION :
- Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of support personnel.
