System Administrator

Job Purpose:

The System Administrator will be responsible for the design, deployment, maintenance, monitoring and optimization of enterprise IT infrastructure supporting mission-critical systems for the Project in Qatar. This role requires deep technical expertise across virtualization, server administration, backup & recovery, and network security. The successful candidate will ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of systems while maintaining compliance with organizational and security standards.

Job Responsibilities:

Virtualization & Systems Management:

• Administer and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including lifecycle management, VM provisioning, templates, and performance optimization.
• Manage Active Directory and Domain Controller environments, including user/group administration, ensuring stable operation of GPO and DNS configurations.
• OS Administration of Linux (RHEL 9) and Windows Server 2022 systems,
• Web server e.g. IIS, Apache and Nginx.

System Maintenance & Updates:

• Perform regular patching activities using WSUS and Red Hat Satellite to ensure systems remain secure and compliant.
• Implement and support backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions using Veeam technologies.

Database Administration:

• Deploy and manage Microsoft SQL Server environments, including clustering and high-availability configurations (Always On Availability Groups, WSFC).

Monitoring & Security:

• Implement and maintain comprehensive infrastructure monitoring and dashboarding solutions using Nagios, Opsview, Zabbix, and Grafana to ensure system performance, availability, and reliability.
• Deploy and administer endpoint protection solutions (e.g., Symantec IDR ).
• Collaborate closely with the security team to implement and maintain all required security measures in compliance with organizational and project standards.

Storage & Hardware Management:

• Configure, optimize, and maintain SAN/NAS storage systems (Fiber Channel).
• Manage Lenovo datacenter hardware , including servers and storage systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Additional Skills - DevOps & Networking:

• Experience in configuring and managing Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama for centralized control.
• Working knowledge of Fortinet and Cisco FTD Firewalls with FMC .
• Proficiency in Cisco switch administration and Array Networks load balancers .
• Exposure to SIEM platforms and sandboxing technologies for enhanced security visibility.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and automation practices is an advantage.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., VMware VCP , Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator , RHCSA/RHCE , Veeam Certified Engineer or any other relevant certification ).
• 7+ years of experience in system administration, preferably in a large enterprise.
• Strong hands-on experience with VMware, Windows Server, Linux, backup and networking infrastructure.
• Must be fluent in English. Knowledge of Arabic will be an added advantage.
